Me as an active Red Cross volunteer, leading a sub team in British Red Cross Cash and voucher assistant in Kabusa community of Abuja Nigeria. It was such a wonderful time meeting people and getting to talk with them on issues bothering them as we get them registered as beneficiaries for the CVA by the British Red Cross and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC

Fiame Naomi Mata’afa is the first female PM of Samoa. She is one of the heads of states who understands that Cop26 could be the point of no return if world leaders keep preventing climate actions. Keeping this in view, she has urged Australian PM Scott Morrison to increase the ambition of its 2030 emissions reduction target and come back to the climate financing table at the Cop26 talks in Glasgow. This is good peer pressure that all the heads of states (especially the states that are more vulnerable to the climate crisis) could put on those countries that are not serious enough about climate action. They should make use of the opportunity Cop26 provides to do so. Read & image: https://bit.ly/3iQ1T1y

Agree, Australia seems one of least intelligent governments when it involves science.
In 2016, I was inspired by @YALI Young African Leaders Initiative to found an Non-profit organization called Save Generation Next. The vision is channelled towards giving hope to all African child. I started it in my local town and I got to share the vision to like minds who engaged actively in it. We achieved a lot of unimaginable heights and it was fulfilling. But then we faced challenges of funds because we couldn't get aids to help us carry out our missions. But for what it worth, I am very glad I founded this vision. It may look slow now, because there isn't any fund coming in to aid us, but I'm never giving up! Because abandoning the vision is like giving up on the Child. Even if it's one child that we got through to, it's a success; so, we ain't giving up! SAVE GENERATION NEXT AFRICA! ...GIVING HOPE TO ALL AFRICAN CHILD!! #myUNICEFstory @UNICEF

Betteries is giving another life to used electric vehicle batteries by upcycling them and creating power systems out of them. These batteries could be used with generators running on fossil fuels like diesel. It has a double postivie impact as the battery got a second life and it actually eliminates the burning of fossil fuels when it is used in such a generator. In other words, it is circular as we do not need to mine for precious virgin raw material for electric batteries. Want more good news? Betteries makes sure that at the end of the 2nd life the batteries are recycled and the revocered materials are put to use once again. Impactful Circularity! Refugees in Cameroon have turned a desert camp into a thriving forest An ambitious reforestation project, carried out by refugees in Minawao, Cameroon, has turned an extensive area of desert into forest - and changed people's lives. The region, already badly affected by climate change, has gradually become home to nearly 70,000 refugees since 2014. They have fled violence linked to militant group Boko Haram in neighbouring Nigeria. The new arrivals accelerated the desertification process, cutting down the few surrounding trees to support themselves. The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) launched a reforestation programme in 2018. "In order to protect the world’s displaced, we must do more to protect the environment. Protecting the environment provides better protection for people. Andrew Harper"-UNHCR’s Special Advisor on Climate Action Refugees and local communities received training on how to give seedlings the best chance of survival in the harsh environment. The so-called "cocoon technology", developed by Land Life Company involves burying a doughnut-shaped water tank made from recycled cartons. This surrounds the plant’s roots and feeds it. To date, volunteers in the refugee camp have given new life to more than 100 hectares (250 football fields) of severely degraded land. "Minawao has become a place that is green all over and there are a lot of benefits to that. We have shade from the sun, the soil has improved and the trees attract water", says one of the volunteers Lydia Youcoubou. This project is contributing to the Great Green Wall, an African-led initiative that aims to grow an 8,000-kilometre continent-wide barrier to stop the ongoing desertification of the Sahel, a territory on the border of the Sahara and the Sudanian savanna. https://www.euronews.com/green/2021/10/10/refugees-in-cameroon-have-turned-a-desert-camp-into-a-thriving-forest https://youtu.be/fAPH8vkWEao

Many thanks to We Don’t Have Time, the entire community of supporters, and to Peter for recognizing and amplifying the work of refugees in Minawao, Cameroon. They are protecting their community by rehabilitating and preserving their environment in the face of climate change. The first point that I would like to make is that it is essential that we do whatever we can to protect the natural environment, in order that those people who have been displaced by conflict are not put at further risk by an increasingly hostile climate. The green project in Minawao and its surroundings is crucial to stop and then hopefully reverse the accelerating desertification brought on by climate change and the arrival of nearly 70,000 refugees fleeing Boko Haram over the past decade. As the refugees did not have access to other energy sources, they had no choice but to cut down trees for firewood in order to meet their basic needs such as cooking and boiling water. Unfortunately, like in many new displacement settings, the environment suffered. This in-turn heightened tension between the refugees and the host communities. Women were also forced to go further into the bush to fetch wood, with the increased risk of being assaulted or raped. In order to both protect the environment and the most vulnerable within the community the Minawao project was born. The Minawao project saw 400.000 trees planted, making the green areas ideal for both agriculture and livestock, which reduced the tensions over natural resources. The climate crisis is a human crisis. It is also a protection crisis. It is amplifying vulnerability, driving displacement, and already making life harder for those forced to flee. While these populations are disproportionately exposed and vulnerable to climate-related shocks, they often have the fewest resources and support to cope in the face of an increasingly hostile environment. However, much displacement and suffering can be avoided with greater and urgent support to adaptation, particularly in the most climate vulnerable and fragile countries and communities, many of whom host refugees and internally displaced people. We must all come together and double down on increasing adaptation and building defences for those who are hardest hit. This will require financial, technological, and capacity support to those who are already working on the ground to protect their communities in a changing climate. We Don’t have Time is playing an important role in raising awareness and contributing to global climate action, and we commend the community’s continued efforts. Thank you, Andrew Harper Special Advisor to the High Commissioner for Climate Action UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

Forests are a natural treasure with so much significances in relevance to tackling climate change than most people know.
This was how we used to pour water into earthen jars in my small village those days. In the evenings, after school, we would walk up to half a kilometer to a borehole constructed by @UNICEF in the early 80s to get water. #MyUnicefStory

There's a huge global concern on the use and disposal of plastics especially bottles and paper carrier and packaging bags. Their indecomposable state as well their one time use that however once disposed haves them land at the wrong sites, rivers, lakes and oceans and thus pose a great health issue to concerned ecosystems habiting humans and water creatures that to some extent threatens the existence of some species to a point of diminishing. The uproar is loud and the WE DON'T HAVE TIME AFRICA (KENYA TEAM) has hit the ground hard, amplified and expressed great concerns on the same. The team with the involvement of some noble youths has taken a clean up initiative during one their visit at Chogoria-Ganga ward-Tharaka Nithi county. Sadly we only add up to millions of others around the world echoing the same cry with little or no action taken by relevant regulatory bodies and governments to halt the production of plastics and otherwise seek alternatives. There are a myriad of environmental friendly, reusable and sustainable alternatives for use by the concerned companies producing products such as bread, pastries and beverages. The shift could be a huge welcome to ensure clean, neat, healthy and toxic free ecosystems and biodiversity. The ban on paper carrier bags by the National environment management authority of Kenya back in 2017 saw a commendable shift to environmental friendly woven and khaki all reusable bags but the NEMA Country Director, Adhan Bile said the agency is investigating the source of plastic paper bags. There have also been allegations that huge consignments including the banned plastic paper bags are illegally being smuggled across the border from neighboring Somalia and Uganda. It is time that governments work as a block cohesively, boldly and in unison to ensure a complete end to the environmentally unfit and endangering products as the world races towards replenishing the planet from pollution.

@fredrikaklaren, head of sustainability at @Polestar, pointed out the importance of electric vehicles in the transitioning of the transport industry. She also talked about Polestar's aim to produce a carbon-neutral car by 2030. "This is about future proofing our businesses, we are in a transition which is a fourth industrial revolution which will be driven by sustainability and digitalization" Transparency promoting behavioural changes was another theme that Fredrika raised, "We declare the carbon footprints of the cars we produce, the Polestar 2 rolls out with a footprint of 26 tons of CO2 and we really want to make sure that out consumers are aware that they come with a carbon debt and know how to have it stay as low as possible" During the panel discussion about mobility at the Exponential Climate Action Summit III – Circularity and the Race to Zero, @carlygilbertpatrick carried the theme of transparency and pointed out that the world is in a mobility disruption and, although there is no perfect solution, giving consumers options is key. The panelist @robinchase, founder of @Zipcar, agreed with Carly Gilbert-Patrick and highlighted the importance of making space in cities for other options than cars. “The future of the transport industry is only electric. You could see a huge transformation from now to a few years ago.” said @owengaffney during his keynote speech at the “Exponential Climate Action Summit III – Circularity and the Race to Zero, Watch the whole discussion and learn more about sustainable mobility: https://youtu.be/EdNpveAJN64
