Before I pen this idea, first I visited your certified page here "We dont have time", and am glad for your big agenda toward your Nordic co-operation of making part of your world more better today and even for the future. And truly this words are very commendable "We must do more". "Climate change, pollution and threats to biodiversity call for our attention, our energy". Well, i came across an article written by guardian about how Conservation groups appeal to EU to take action against slaughter and illegal hunting of wolf's they allege flouts rules, and I noted Norway is not a member of EU Bern Convention, but I feel you can amplify this voice across and good action might be taken. I support this words said by @Siri_Martinsen the Chief Executive of @Noah_conference and still the partner of wdht, he said-:) “Its a horrific situation,” an animal rights group that is challenging Norway’s wolf hunts in its courts. “Norway’s wolf management is out of control and they are just shooting wolves because some people don’t like them. It is outrageous to hold a species at a critically endangered level.” Stile he said,In Norway, Martinsen called on other European countries “to intervene and file complaints with the Bern Convention so we can stop this situation where Norway is leading the way to tolerating an extinction policy and making these conventions not worth the paper they are written on” He deserve 💚 for that-:) We are all a part of nature and we are nature. We are not going to exist without nature. Below is the article with more info-:) https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jan/15/finland-sweden-norway-cull-wolf-population-eu

PHILADELPHIA (StudyFinds.org) – The climate crisis will cause more people to suffer from kidney stones, a new study predicts. Researchers from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) say kidney stones is a condition in which hard deposits of minerals build up in the urine, causing great pain as they pass through the urinary tract. Their study finds the incidence of this condition has increased in the last 20 years and is more prevalent among women and children. "While it is impossible to predict with certainty how future policies will slow or hasten greenhouse gas emission and anthropogenic climate change, and to know exactly what future daily temperatures will be, our analysis suggests that a warming planet will likely cause an increased burden of kidney stone disease on healthcare systems," says study senior author and urologist Dr. Gregory Tasian in a media release. Heat and kidney stones don't mix Past studies have demonstrated that high room temperatures increase the risk of developing kidney stones and, particularly in the United States, more people develop the condition after hot days. With this in mind, the researchers wanted to understand how climate change would impact any future cases of kidney stones. To do so, the team created a model to estimate the impact of heat on future kidney stone cases in South Carolina. They chose the southern state as a model because it lies within the "kidney stone belt" of the U.S. - a region in the southeast with a greater number of kidney stone disease cases than other areas. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/will-climate-change-lead-to-more-people-having-kidney-stones/ar-AASQHUk?ocid=BingNewsSearch

From the founders of the Swedish Travel company Globalrunner: "Globalrunners was the first to offer all trains instead of flights on our trips in 2016. A few years later, we canceled the trips to which there were no sustainable transports from Sweden, such as Cuba, Iceland, Nepal, Mongolia, Istanbul, India, and more. We placed the responsibility on the customer to choose, flight or train. We saw a trend where more and more people chose the train, but unfortunately it has not only stopped but turned around. On our wintertours 2022, only 2-3 people choose trains on our trips, the rest choose to fly. Emissions of greenhouse gases affect the climate with worsening floods, famine and extreme weather as a result. After the Jizerska tour in February 2022, we will no longer offer flights to any guest on any trip. We will instead shift to the train (and bus if the train does not go all the way forward as to Moena on the Marcialongare trip). Will all our customers accompany us on our journeys by train? Maybe not all at once. Hopefully, new customers sign up who also like to travel, discover new places and who realize that we must act NOW. We want to be proud of our company and do what we feel in our stomach, heart and brain is the only right thing." THIS IS TRUE LEADERSHIP. CLIMATE BEFORE SHORT-TERM PROFIT. Not the other way around. I would love to book a vacation with this travel company. The mindset we need! Help more do the same. Share this climate love and give Globalrunner some free marketing. This is a great water week all over the world, where the world is celebrating water week in the world and great organizations like from Sweden 'Siwi'', etc. are taking this week very serious discussing and sensitizing all of us about this great commodity we all require in each and every day ''WATER '' Well, back here Kenya....The Mount Kenya region offers a great deal of beautiful scenery and attracts tourists from all over the world. What these tourists may not see, however, is the crucial function of Mount Kenya as a water tower for its foot zones and adjoining lowland areas. This function is becoming ever more crucial, as populations in these areas are growing at a rapid pace and new land use systems require far more water. These developments have set the stage for increasing conflicts over water resources; to make things worse, water is becoming ever scarcer, especially in the dry areas of the Laikipia Plateau and the Samburu Plains to the north and west of the mountain. It has become sad to me and to many communities that were benefiting from once mighty the Ewaso Ng’iro river which all of us we used to learn about it in schools and even visiting them as schools tour of educational trips especially in common subject known as (G.H.C) ''Geography, history and civic learning subject.... Now the river is staring at grim reality of drying up among many that have dried up already! As ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigations what are your present and multilevel strategy to safeguard this and mitigate the community problems and conflicts that occurs often the cause being caused by this crucial commodity...''water''? We have seen them in media having a peaceful demonstration raising the causes and solutions to curb the matter.... Kindly give them an ear and come up with solutions to curb the danger already in the surface.. Below are some articles about the same-:) https://nation.africa/kenya/news/once-mighty-ewaso-ng-iro-stares-at-grim-reality-of-drying-up-3368796 https://www.whispersnorth.com/2019/08/06/pastoralists-on-200km-trek-to-save-river-ewaso-nyiro/ https://www.researchgate.net/figure/The-regular-drying-up-of-the-formerly-perennial-Ewaso-Ngiro-River-is-affecting_fig2_232667462 Patrick, We Dont Have Time-Kenya Chapter.

WORLD LION DAY Today is quite a remarkable day on the calendar as we celebrate the day of the so much hailed-The king of the jungle. It's otherwise an optimum time to create and raise awareness about lions globally and to mobilize for their conservation and protection despite the numerous challenges such as climate change, human wildlife conflict and encroachment into wildlife reserve areas. Meet "SIR" (pictured below). He is in an orphanage at Ol Jogi wildlife conservancy in Laikipia county-Kenya.He was rescued from the neighboring community in Rumuruti two years ago with an injury and has been recapitulating at the facility. As told by the care givers,he was once visited by a number of lions who engaged him in a fierce fight trying to gain access into his enclosure. He worn the fight and the intruding pride shamelessly fled before the dawn broke. He will soon be reinstated into the wild. There are about five lion families in the conservancy with the largest comprising of about fourteen that we got to see enjoying a zebra kill on an early morning game drive with Francis-an esteemed and experienced driver and tour guide during a recent visit.

Agriculture, climate change and carbon sequestration Introduction Human activities, especially burning of fossil fuels such as coal oil and gas have caused substantial increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. The increase in atmospheric is causing measurable global warming. Potential adverse impacts include sea-level; increased frequency and intensity of wildfires, floods, droughts and tropical storms; changes in the timing, amount and distribution of rain, snow and run off; and disturbance of coastal marine and other ecosystems. Rising atmospheric CO2 is also increasing the absorption of CO2 by sea water, causing the ocean to become more acidic. Therefore mitigation of the consequences incurred from the effects, technically and economically feasible strategies are needed; Carbon capture and sequestration Carbon sequestration refers to the process of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. Can occur through a variety of agricultural practices. It is one of the methods of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with the aim of reducing global climate change. Through this there are two main types of carbon sequestration; geologic and biologic. I. Biological carbon sequestration This is roughly the storage of carbon dioxide in the vegetation like a) In forests: plant-rich landscapes like forests, rangeland and grasslands absorb about 25% of the global carbon emissions b) In soils: carbon can be sequestrated in soil by plants through photosynthesis. Sol can also store carbon as carbonates, the carbonates are organic and can store carbon for ten thousand of years. c) In grasslands: grasslands and rangelands are more reliable areas of storing carbon than forests due to rapid wildfires and deforestation affecting forest. Grasslands can sequester more carbon underground and when they burn, the carbon stays fixed in the roots and soil instead of woody biomass. II. Geological carbon sequestration This is where carbon dioxide is stored in underground geologic formations, such as in rocks. Industrial sources of carbon such as steel or cement production companies or energy related sources such as power plants or natural gas processing facilities will release will release their carbon dioxide, which is then injected into porous rocks for long-term storage. Such carbon capture and storage allows the use of fossil fuels until a substitute energy source is introduced on a large scale. What to do Carbon farming Afforestation and reforestation Encourage farmers to leave crop residues in the field Educate farmers about biochar (partly burning materials such as logging slash or crop waste to make a carbon-rich, slow to decompose substance) Rock solutions Direct air capture and storage Bioenergy and bury This is an activity that will target the ministry of agriculture and large industrial sources of carbon in the country. Also the farmers(large scale and small scale) Compiled by peter karanga Peterkaranga73@gmail.com

Late last month of July. The We Don't Have Time Kenya and USA chapters in collaboration with Veterinarians International (USA) and Ol Jogi Conservancy (Kenya) carried out a scoping mission to develop a model for peaceful and healthy co-existence between humans, animals and the environment. At the heart of the mission was to explore pathways to build healthy and peaceful co-existence of humans and animals with their environments through interventions geared at improving care and conservation of animals and promoting human health and development in ways that conserves and maintain the complex systems that support the communities one being Ol Jogi conservation in Laikipia county. This collaborative effort will leverage on WDHT, the largest climate social media platform to amplify various efforts and draw stakeholders and other local and international partners but also provide opportunities for global conversation on local issues affecting frontline communities in Laikipia. Veterinarian International, whose mission is to provide veterinary aid and education to improve the health and wellbeing of animals and their communities, brings with it a network of One Health experts including veterinarians, public health practitioners, animal welfare specialists and researchers, ecologists and agricultural/soil health experts who provide the key veterinary expertise, equipment and supplies for both immediate aid and disease prevention; build necessary infrastructure for animal care; and educate communities about animal health, behaviour and husbandry for long-term, sustainable solutions in their own communities. The Ol Jogi conservancy is located in Laikipia County in Kenya and is home to over half of the black Rhino population in the country. The conservancy is also home to over 20 ungulate species 5 large carnivore species, 3 primates species, elephants and numerous avian species. Ol Jogi also have a Wildlife Rescue Centre which has a state-of-art wildlife veterinary clinic, established in 1985 that offers refuge to orphaned and injured animals. The conservancy have also been very successful with Ol Jogi neighbours the Masaai community, who are traditionally pastoralist but whose livelihood and culture have been threatened by shift from extensive livestock production to intensive agriculture/cultivation, destruction of grazing habitats with human settlement and farming. Increasing cost of living and economic precarity associated with collapse of beef market in Kenya means that even those that remain pastoralist have to overstock animals as means of increasing profitability leading to overgrazing and further soil degradation. Bringing these four partners together, the Veterinary International will spearhead establishment of Ol Jogi centre of excellence for One Health and wildlife medicine by training local and international veterinarians and veterinary students, animal health technicians, animal scientists, farmers and community leaders on complex interactions between animals, humans and their environment and how to apply One Health concept in their clinical practice, research, community engagements, livestock production, regenerative farming and conservation. This will be done through collaborations with University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The scoping mission was successful in identifying and meeting with the key partners with WDHT US chapter represented by Dr. Sweta Chakraborty, a risk and behavioural scientist who will lead in design of human,Veterinarian International was represented by Dr. Scarlett Magda, the founding president of Veterinary International and a One Health expert; Erin Ivory, an anthrozoologist and vice president of programs at VI and she brings on board her specialty in human-animal behaviour interactions and ways of improving animal welfare and mitigate animal-human conflicts. Also present was the VI country representative Dr. Grace Watene, a budding One Health veterinarian and epidemiologist and Jillian Semaan who works at the intersection of food climate, human health and planetary health and she will be looking at various aspects of soil health within the context of habitat regeneration. The WDHT Kenyan team was represented by Patrick Kiarie the country Representative and Peter Kamau the Kenya chapter administrator as well as Dr. Robert Josphine, a veterinarian and infectious disease immunologist. We are really excited to work and interact with Veterinarian International on this incredible project and their mission to bring harmonious existence between humans, animals and the ecosystems that supports our survival on our planet. We as we don't have time -Kenya chapter we give you a high star rate of 5! Soon we will write a long detailed article and include more pictures, we are glad for you being partners of wdht and we are looking forward to interact and partner with other organisations that has same goals to safeguard our planet before it's too late as we have no planet B. Hi all! One of the climate leader Al Gore once said Use your voice, use your vote, use your choice" And that means Al Gore has shown us that climate leadership is more about climate communication.... So this morning from Kenya I feel I need to communicate to you all about a very good articles I came across about like 10 things we can do to mitigate and curb climate crisis "we" as individually. I know some of you do "some" of the things mentioned, but you can add one or two more things that you don't do,and it will play a big role too. So I feel as a member of this great organisation #Wedonthavetime.. at least I urge we take this CHALLANGE in individually capacity, your family and even you let others know or join your wagon in this month of August and even for more months to come. And in that way we will achieve our mission. And through this challenge, your action, activities if it can be combine COLLECTIVELY we will definitely achieve something for our mother nature. Are you ready to join this CHALLANGE? Be that one person out there that world needs to cool down. Hi all, I'm a guinean( West Africa) of origin leaving in London. Two weeks I started to think more about climate change with torrential rain in July in London. So unusual. At the same time floods back in Guinea. Also the guinea minister in charge of the environment attended the July Ministerial in preparation for cop26 in Glasgow. He came with a childhood friend. It raised my awareness even more. I'm thinking of creating a calendar for next year with an image for each month. That would be 12 subject to briefly explain that applies to that part of the world and offer a preventive measure. Raising awareness from school children to the wider public and governmental departments. More than a calendar, try to organise an activity each month around its subject. I don't know if you could assist me find 12 subjects environnement and climate change. I would be grateful, the planet and we the people are in danger and africa with the lack of resources and better government policies followed by actions even more. I really would like to engage for guinea. Looking forward to hearing from you Many thanks

For over a decade, evidence of climate change has been accumulated in the scientific community until mid 1980s, the world’s largest economic power called on the UN to create a group of experts to study this issue. This was the first time there was a real consideration and a true definition of climate change as a public problem; therefore a question goes , do we want to live with this issues forever or rather do we want to see our generation suffer as a result of our ignorance? We all assume agricultural activities being extra safe since agriculture is the backbone of our economies not knowing the impact the same agriculture has to the change in climate. Africa has been said to be vulnerable to climate change and all this is driven by a range of issues that pile up destroying the entire way of life, an agricultural kind of problem being, a high percentage of people have high dependency on the ecosystem goods for livelihoods and less developed agricultural production and this shouldn’t be the case here. Studies show that agricultural activities hold up to 17 % of reasons behind the changes in climate this shouldn’t be a problem yet it’s a saving grace to most of African continent. Agricultural production will remain high if food demand is to be met, at the same time there is a huge carbon sink potential in the same sector including land use, forestry sector and land use change. The accumulation of the GHG’S in the upper atmosphere is leading to changes in climate, key; temperature increase So, the Earth's average temperature has increased about 2 degrees Fahrenheit during the 20th century. What's the big deal? Two degrees may sound like a small amount, but it's an unusual event in our planet's recent history, this increase has had a lot of impact as it may sound. Earth’s climate record, preserved in tree rings, ice cores, and coral reefs, shows that the global average temperature is stable over long periods of time. As mentioned earlier Africa is vulnerable to climate change, we have been our own monsters, we have suffered in all areas that affect our daily leaving. It disturbs to see that our help is turning into a daily heap of problem. For instance a regular use of intense agricultural equipments endangers lives as much as food is found and people aren’t hungry again. We should not be facing problems where our source of livelihood is 80% depended on; I call upon @justdigit to; a)Advice firms to make less pollutive farm equipments and other necessities. b)Ensure agricultural companies are made to match a green house gas free environment.

12 to 1 is the ratio of on-platform Climate Support (Likes) between We Don't Have Time and LinkedIn. I am a #climatechange professional, having worked in field for 17 yrs, and up until a few years ago the depth of public and professional engagement was limited. Today we have much greater recognition, but also enthusiasm to combate climate change and its effects. A leading and effective online platform for this engagement is We Don't Have Time. Yesterday i posted an article with comment on the cost of climate change resilience on both We Don't Have Time and LinkedIn (were most of my 1000+ contacts address climate change professionally in some way). The engagement rate was 12x higher on We Don't Have Time. I am not down playing the value of LinkedIn, but this is an indication of what level of enthusiasm is channeled into subject based online platforms. When time for purchasing new car models the swedish police chooses to go with 300-horsepower gas powered Volvo V90 instead of electric alternatives. This deal stretches for the coming 8 years. - Since 2005, Swedish authorities have been required to purchase an increasing proportion of environmental vehicles. Now the Swedish police have chosen to buy in 2,200 vehicles, apparently without setting environmental requirements, says 2030-sekretariatets vd Jakob Lagercrantz. There are police forces around the world that is looking for electric alternatives, and the options are there. This decision from the swedish police is not in line with reaching set environmental goals. The authorities should lead the way in a green transition. This is a step in the wrong direction.
