After being crowned the winner of the E-prize 2022, a new KTH study has now shown that Candela has the potential to greatly reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The KTH thesis compares the Candela P-12 Shuttle model with fossil-powered alternatives in a life cycle analysis. What the analysis examines are the different stages in the product's life; extraction of raw materials, manufacturing and use until the product is no longer used and must be taken care of. The study shows that with a lifetime of 30 years, the carbon footprint from Candela's boat model will be 97.5 percent lower than from the compared ships in the thesis.
