Thanks for sharing this Jan! Not only does removing this form of pollution reduce the risk of harm to marine life, but recycling is also very energy efficient. Our recycled nylon blend has a carbon footprint of about 10% that of virgin nylon!

Bonava is top ranked for their efforts to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions. The non-profit organisation Carbon Disclosure (CDP) gives Bonava the rating “A-“ for the work to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions. In 2018, Bonava was rated “C” and last year “B”. In December 2019, Bonava, as the first residential developer in Europe, set climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative to reduce our climate impact aligned with a 1.5-degree scenario until 2030. Bonava is, since then, committed to reducing the company’s direct carbon emissions with an absolute target of 50 per cent and reducing carbon emissions throughout the value chain with an intensity target of 50 per cent per housing start by 2030 compared with the base year of 2018. The fact that Bonava now is given one of the highest scores in the CDP’s annual environmental disclosure, shows that their science based targets and working methods for reducing the company’s negative climate impact are on the right track in protecting the planet from climate change. What does the rating mean and how has Bonava been assessed? CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. The organisation applies a thorough and independent methodology for evaluating companies’ climate work and rate them on a grade from A to D-. The rating is based on how open the company has been with the information it has shared, knowledge of environmental risks and how these are handled. Leadership in environmental issues is also assessed, for example, by setting ambitious and relevant goals.

It is in principle to be welcomed that Great Britain is investing 120 billion euros in its rail network. But if all that is being built is a high-speed HS2 line that destroys 700 nature reserves and 100 old forests, then something is going wrong. Even according to its own calculations, HS2 will only achieve climate neutrality after 120 years, and all this in the middle of the climate crisis. https://www.taz.de/!5713179

At first I thought of a premature April Fool's joke when I read that Deutsche Telekom AG was celebrating the "smart closing of ranks against freezing". They are seriously making electrically heated jackets, with battery, electronics and smartphone interface. Just so that you can walk around in a T-shirt under your jacket in winter. Even if the power consumption for heating is low. The whole thing is a senseless waste of resources and anything but "smart".
