https://kordavid.blogspot.com/ The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and the Benue State Government of Nigeria have sealed Pure Biotech Company, a cassava processing plant located in Benue State, Nigeria. The facility was shut down for operating without a Functional Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), thereby channeling untreated Effluents directly into River Benue. https://kordavid.blogspot.com/ This article aims to inspire action and provide a practical roadmap for companies seeking to align with environmental and safety regulations.

I was told that Farming sustainably will soon be generating extra income from farms as the carbon sequestered through specified Regenerative Agric practices will generate carbon credits that when verified and sold will give cash. EXTRA income!!! Asides the cash, soils will be healthy, yields will increase, micro/ macronutrients will be increased in the grains/ fruits meeting export standards and saving our planet as the farmer will aid in offsetting GHGs emitted even by others. I'm in love with this development already. Can someone tell me, is this true?

I’m also in love with this! I can recommend the work from Richard Perkins. He’s a regenerative farmer I’ve followed on YouTube and social media for more than a year now. He has excellent knowledge and his keynotes and books includes data, blueprints and business models as well as the methods of farming!

Fighting Climate Change: Redirecting Fossil Fuel Profits Towards Renewable Energy The recent announcement of Shell's $5 billion USD profit and Total's $4.5 billion EUR earnings in the last quarter serves as a stark reminder of the immense wealth generated by fossil fuel giants. Such astronomical profits have prompted urgent calls for a shift towards renewable energy sources that can power communities while safeguarding our planet's future. By redirecting these profits to the development of cheap and socially-owned renewable energy, we can pave the way for a greener, more sustainable world. The Power of Profits: The staggering profits of Shell, Exxon, Total, and BP have been amassed over decades, fueled by exploiting the Earth's natural resources. These companies have long dominated the energy landscape, leading some to believe that a world free from their grip is unattainable. However, with the collective will to demand change, it is time to challenge this notion and envision a future powered by cleaner alternatives. Investing in Renewable Energy: The surplus profits of these fossil fuel giants hold the key to unlocking a renewable energy revolution. By reinvesting these earnings into wind turbines and solar power initiatives, we could propel Europe towards powering around 5 million households solely on clean energy. Similarly, this financial windfall could fund solar projects to provide sustainable power to all households in Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya, positively impacting millions of lives. Hope for a Better Tomorrow: To achieve a world free from reliance on fossil fuels, we must not lose sight of hope. The coal, oil, and gas giants thrive on our perceived helplessness in the face of the energy crisis. But as individuals, communities, and nations, we possess the power to demand change and shape a future that prioritizes renewable energy. Socially-Owned Energy: Promoting cheap and socially-owned renewable energy is essential in democratizing access to power. Local communities and citizens can have a stake in renewable energy projects, creating a more equitable distribution of resources and economic benefits. Such initiatives empower people to take charge of their energy future while reducing the influence of profit-driven corporations. A Call to Action: It is high time we reclaim the vast profits that fossil fuel companies have amassed at the expense of our planet's well-being. By advocating for renewable energy investments and fostering community-driven energy projects, we can break the chains of dependency on corporations and chart a course towards a sustainable tomorrow. Conclusion: The immense profits of fossil fuel giants Shell, Exxon, Total, and BP represent an untapped reservoir of potential for transitioning to renewable energy. Redirecting these profits towards wind turbines and solar power initiatives can revolutionize our energy landscape, powering millions of households and improving lives globally. By nurturing hope, embracing socially-owned energy, and demanding change, we hold the power to reshape the future and protect our planet for generations to come. The time to act is now, and together, we can build a cleaner and more sustainable world.

I love this post as it shows a practical solution to funding a green energy transition. Community power has been shown to work all over the world but is unfortunately overlooked by many policy makers (I assume that this is because the people currently profiteering from fossil fuels won't make so much money if community energy becomes big). This is a great thing to advocate for and we need to bring as many people on board as possible! .

Nigeria's Fuel Subsidy Removal Spurs Reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Climate Fight By David Kor Introduction: The recent decision to remove fuel subsidies in Nigeria has sparked significant changes in the country's energy landscape. With fuel prices surging by 150% to 200%, Nigerians are facing soaring energy costs, prompting them to adopt alternative modes of transportation and embrace more economical lifestyles. This shift away from private vehicles towards public transportation and walking has had several positive impacts on the environment, favoring the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and advancing the fight against climate change. Decreased Vehicular Movement: The sharp rise in fuel prices has led to reduced vehicular movement across major cities like Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt. As citizens grapple with the financial burden of higher fuel costs, many are opting to drive less frequently or carpool to save on expenses. This decrease in the number of cars on the roads has resulted in lower carbon emissions, easing the burden on the environment and contributing to cleaner air quality. Adoption of Public Transportation: Nigerians are increasingly turning to public transportation as a viable and cost-effective means of travel. The demand for buses, trains, and other forms of public transit has risen as citizens seek alternatives to their private vehicles. Public transportation typically emits fewer greenhouse gases per passenger compared to individual cars, making it a greener choice for daily commuting. Embracing Sustainable Transport Solutions: With walking and cycling becoming more commonplace in response to the fuel price hike, Nigerians are embracing sustainable transport solutions. Walking longer distances not only promotes a healthier lifestyle but also significantly reduces carbon emissions and the carbon footprint of the nation. These eco-friendly commuting options play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and aligning with global efforts to combat its adverse effects. Long-Term Environmental Benefits: While the initial adjustment to higher fuel prices has been challenging for Nigerians, the long-term environmental benefits are promising. As more individuals continue to adopt energy-efficient modes of transportation, the cumulative impact on greenhouse gas emissions is likely to be significant. This proactive response to the fuel subsidy removal demonstrates Nigeria's commitment to addressing climate change and transitioning towards a greener, sustainable future. Policy Implications: The removal of fuel subsidies may have affected the livelihood of the most vulnerable households living with less than a $1 USD, but it has sparked a positive change in consumer behavior, encouraging environmentally friendly choices. This shift sends a strong signal to policymakers that fighting climate change and embracing sustainable solutions can only be made deliberate. The subsidy provides an opportunity for the government and private sector to invest in renewable energy sources, improve public transportation infrastructure, and promote eco-conscious initiatives to further combat climate change. Conclusion: Nigeria's decision to remove fuel subsidies has led to a dramatic increase in fuel prices, causing citizens to adapt to more sustainable and economical lifestyles. As Nigerians embrace alternative modes of transportation such as public transit and walking, the country is witnessing a reduction in vehicular movement and greenhouse gas emissions. These changes demonstrate a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future and should rather lead to Nigeria's commitment to combating climate change. By continuing to prioritize environmentally friendly practices and investing in renewable energy solutions, Nigeria can pave the way for a cleaner, healthier planet for current and future generations. https://www.givengain.com/cc/empowering-young-changemakers-to-fight-climate-change/
