I understand the need to implement controls on the charging of eVs but I'm not convinced that this is the best approach. Since all eV batteries can be queried to see how much charge/distance they have left, why not have a system which queries the battery and if it has less than 100km left, charge it immediately to that point, and if it has more than 100km left, delay the charging for when the grid is quiet.

Concerns as India builds rail network in remote state near China. What and how much individual sacrifices will be needed to compensate for potential climate effects of this project? https://aje.io/khrwpq
•
146 w
Railroad are good compared to other options. One of the pillars has to be integration, nature (under) passages. Compensation areas, water flows etcetc.
•
146 w
The compensation plan for the space on which the rail will sit on should be well though of. projects take place that at times disorients biodiversity and no proper rehab/compensation plans are considered. at least tree planting exercise on a different designated area.

Opinion Compared to some of the people here, I'm quite sure my network of contacts it quite small, maybe even tiny. But I get the rising impression that people I talk to are getting quite vexed, that they're are having to make changes to their lifestyle, standard of living & quality of life, while industry continues to pump out harmful clouds pollutants while paying lip-services to any regulations. I have to say, I’m starting to see their point of view, it does seem the the individual is being asked to pay to clear up the mess caused by industry, as their shareholders reap the profits.

The people on WDHT are concious people. We understand the role of people, companies & governments. We have figured it right that the governments are not doing their work but the work for businesses & mega rich oil companies. We should use WDHT more often to involve businesses, politicians & International organisations to appreciate, inform of our concerns or give ideas. Also important is that we spread the awareness of our mission & bring more people here. This will make people heard & enable us make enough noise & create enough pressure to make governments & businesses take he right path for life on Earth.

I agree with you. We Will not solve the crisis with only individual changed. We need accountability and demand change from big corps and governments. That's why you can use our review system ⚠️💡💚 and have a dialogue for change directly with our leaders on this platform. Working together to be the power of many behind climate action. It works but we need to be more!
•
•
147 w
The oil industry has pushed the agenda of individuals alone being able to solve climate change for quite some time. It is extremely important that we use individual changes to understand for ourselves and those around us that a low emission lifestyle is possible and even in some cases preferable, and then to use what voice we have to tell corporations and goverments that they need to act for system change if they want the public's approval.
151 w
Just a thought! Here in the UK the authorities have taken upon themselves to confiscate and presumably destroy e-scooters, thus the resources used in their manufacturer of these items is now so-much waste. I'm guessing that the confiscated E-scooter are sparking demand for replacements that uses more resources.
•

While Big Tech bear false witness & pay lip service to Climate change, all our good deeds & actions will be fruitless. Is it right that the individuals around the World, should be asked to make personal sacrifices to correct the Climate disaster caused by big Corporation and industries that have wasted resources while make huge profits?
•
152 w
Industrial processes still pump out pollutants without consequences, not bearing the percentage of costs that individuals have had to stump-up by hard working people, mostly low income ones
•
•
152 w
It is not right, but some sacrifices need to be made to correct the disaster caused by individuals that have wasted resources. Overconsumption, disconnection from nature and active choice of unsustainable products can't be solved by companies alone, behavior change is needed. Fortunately, making those changes isn't nearly as bad as some think. It can actually lead to a better life if we dare to dream and shift our perspective. Even if all individuals make the necessary changes to reduce their emissions, a large portion of the emissions are still there. That's why we also need to put part of our energy into influencing business and politics to take care of the large scale emissions that individuals can't influence directly.
•
152 w
I understand, but if show that we are ready to make some change and sacrifices, it will have a ripple effect and the corporations will get on the project. We are the customers of those industries after all.
