Zigrid’s pitch: 70% of all energy produced is wasted as heat energy. Of this, roughly 30 000 TWh is recoverable heat below 100C°. As today’s turbine-based ORC-solutions fall short to convert this low-grade heat to electricity, ZIGRID has a gap to fill with our patented volumetric Heat2Power solution converting warm wastewater between 45-90C° to electricity. Our power modules work in industry/power/geothermal applications. Of 30.000 TWh warm wastewater, ZIGRID can produce 1.800 TWh electricity yearly, equal to 2021 global wind power. With 4,3 gr CO2/kWh this would save 750 Mton yearly. ZIGRID-as-a-Service gain share model, powered by ZIGRID IoT platform enable customers and ZIGRID to profitable from year 2-4.

@fred_hagwall Hi Fred and thx for your vote! Yes - many solutions - one good thing with waste heat/geo heat is that it is available more or less year around giving a contionous production. /Håkan amd Team ZIGRID

Who are you key customers? Are there certain industries or manufacturers who would likely adopt your service?
•

@thomas_hou Hi Thomas and thank you for your vote! ZIGRID can act as a single source, or as add-on to existing heat power solutions operating in higher temperatures. The add-on method simplifies installation using existing infrastructure while increasing combined system efficiency. Typical industries for ZIGRID as single source are Pulp & Paper, Steel, Power plants and Geo heat. The possibility to cooperate with other solutions is what our planet need making sure we use the most of the energy in the different streams. Hope this answered your question. /Håkan and Team ZIGRID

I like this a lot. It is amazing that we have wasted all the precious waste, including garbage, recyclables, methane and C02 all these years. Now wastewater. I love that. I support this.
•
86 w
@alan_solomon Thx Alan! And what’s even worse for many industries is that they on top of the waste often have to cool down the water which is costly. With ZIGRID we produce elctricity while cooling down the waste water. If you have time - let your friends now so they can vote :-) /Håkan and Team ZIGRID

The City of vienna (Austria) does produce electricity from warm waste water already on a large scale. https://futurezone.at/digital-life/wien-energie-waermewende-abwasser-strom/401938453#:~:text=Die%20Energie%20aus%20dem%20Abwasser,5%20Millionen%20Tonnen%20CO2%20eingespart. (in German)

@martin_meirhofer Hi Martin and thx for the link! Read it in an English translation :-). Indeed a large large project where as much of the wasted energy is being reused - and adding more projects all the time. As I understood it they use the lower heat temperatures (and sometimes in combination with heat pumps) to supply heat via the district heating system. Then there where electricity production from higher temperatures. The unique thing with the ZIGRID technology is that we can produce electricity from the low temperatures (45-90C°) in a commercially viable way. We participate in a Swedish project called Thermonet where we look at how e.g district heating, bore holes, facilities can enter some kind of symbios with reusing the heat/cold over the season - feels similar to the Vienna approach. Again - thx for the link - interesting reading! /Håkan and Team ZIGRID

This is a great idea for energy efficiency! What companies are you focusing on mostly?
•
87 w
@sarah_chabane Hi Sarah! Yes we agree - this has the potential to become truly great! We look for the match where there's a energy flow below 90C°. Typical is Pulp&Paper, Steel, Geothermal and also power producers. Very exciting is also the concept of industrial symbiosis where we utilise the entire energy flow for different purposes. Can be power production in the upper temperature area and then deliver the rest for e.g green houses etc. We are also a good complement to existing installations where we can increase efficiency in lower temperatures. We are entering our first pilot installation this autumn. So - this is more than Power point :-)
