AlgoBio has developed a novel flame retardant using a biopolymer made from invasive brown algae. The uniqueness of this product is that it is non-toxic as opposed to the vast majority of flame retardants found on the market. With two different coating formulations that both surpass the industry standard flame retardancy level, they have a burn rate that is 10x better than the requirement.
By using renewable and natural resources the flame retardant is non-toxic and has virtually no carbon footprint. The production is simple and does not require elaborate machinery meaning cleaner production.
