This week, as the UN’s key preparatory climate meeting for COP30 takes place in Bonn, Brazil is facing growing international criticism.

While the country prepares to host COP30 in Belém next year, it is facing sharp criticism over controversial ⚠️ plans to drill for oil in Block 59—near the ecologically sensitive Amazon Delta—and new legislation that would weaken environmental oversight for major projects.

As part of our on-site coverage of the UN June Climate Meetings in Bonn, the We Don’t Have Time team sat down on Wednesday with Ana Toni, CEO of COP30 and Brazil’s National Secretary for Climate Change, for an exclusive interview.
