On January 26th, we wen to the EU Parliament in Brussels to deliver our petition to Commissioner Hoekstra’s office at the EU commission! 🤝
We are urging the EU to use the law to hold big polluters accountable and protect future generations from the impacts of climate change.
Over 75,000 people are calling on the EU to champion a progressive “Advisory Opinion” at the International Court of Justice on the issue of human rights and climate change.
A progressive legal ruling by the #ICJ could finally clarify the obligations of states to protect the rights of current and future generations, and provide us with the tools we need to fight for climate justice across the world. This would create the chance to use the law to stop the world’s worst polluters – corporations and states – and sue them for the loss and damage they cause.
Learn more about this historic campaign for legal change which began in the Pacific Islands 👉 with @pisfcc & has now gone global 👉 @wy4cj We have until March 22nd to shape this advisory opinion, so you can still sign the PETITION and make a difference! The petition delivery of over 75,000 signatures to Commissioner Hoekstra's office at the EU Parliament reflects a strong call from the public to hold big polluters accountable for their environmental impact. The urging of the EU to champion a progressive "Advisory Opinion" at the International Court of Justice on human rights and climate change demonstrates a global effort to seek legal measures for climate justice. The campaign's goal to clarify state obligations and provide tools to fight for climate justice worldwide is a significant step toward holding corporations and states responsible for environmental damage. The campaign's ongoing efforts and the call for public support emphasize the importance of collective action in addressing climate change through legal means.

@walter_lungayi You are very right! The EU must represent its citizens - and they (especially the younger generations) want and deserve a safe and secure future! We need climate justice - for people all around the world and all future generations! ✊🏽🌿
