Just wanted to say I've been incredibly inspired by the work of the Sailcargo team on the schooner Ceiba, demonstrating the business, ecological case for shipping by sail. Check out their instagram page, it has many beautiful shots of the build!

Thank you for the kind words Efflam. We are building a wooden cargo sailing ship in Costa Rica to prove the value of clean shipping. With net carbon neutrality building practices our first ship Ceiba is called on to serve markets that don’t have space in the dynamics of large-scale maritime shipping, people like small carbon-neutral producers, and eco-conscious consumers. Ceiba will be able to carry 250 tons of sustainability produced goods, emission free along the Pacific Americas. Visit our website at sailcargo.org or search us on YouTube to learn more! Thank you to the We Don't Have Time team for everything!

Will you be interested in hosting voyagers as well as cargo? I can see there being a big call for sustainable tourism at a slow pace like this.

The classification for a passenger transport ship is different. Our ship Ceiba was designed as cargo ship with different safety regulations and comfort levels. There will be space for guests such as investors and extra bunks for trainees who are learning to sail. However the main purpose is for transporting cargo. Eco-tourism and sail tourism can be great endeavors, just not what we're set up to do.

Good job sail cargo. Sounds good, any type of sailing ship will do for short/not on time routes. Large bulk is in a different economy unfortunately. But we can use ammonia/small nuclear for those!

Bulk containers are a different game. We are trying to simply offer one alternative to conventional fossil fuel shipping. If people see popular zero-emission products in stores it will begin a move larger consumer demands in that direction. We aren't naive enough to think we'll change the whole industry to wooden sailing vessels, however the more options in a sustainable future we have the better. As a group of woodworkers and boat builders, this one possible solution that we can offer!

Believing in something different requires courage. I like that @Sailcargo is believing and doing what requires a lot of courage. I support their mission of proving the value of clean shipping. Godspeed!
