I will be speaking at Nature in the Race to Zero on Earth Day, April 2022. Like all other speakers at the event, I have been asked to formulate a reply to the following question: “Decarbonizing our economies is a huge - and hugely important - challenge, deeply affecting all parts of our societies. What is the significance of mankind’s relationship with nature and the role of nature-based solutions in this transformation?” Here is my reply: One common objection to forests as a climate solution is that trees “take too long to grow.” A forest needs a minimum of 10 years, in many cases 20-25, to establish and ramp up its carbon capture rate. Though this may sound like a long time, it's actually much faster than any other technology-based carbon capture solution. It can take decades to develop a technology and then bring it to market at scale. At this time, no carbon capture technology is ready to deploy at scale. In contrast, forests are already a durable, proven carbon drawdown mechanism, with 3 trillion trees on Earth, sequestering some 13 billion tons of CO2 every year. We already know how to plant trees and regrow forests. Indeed, the past 30 years have involved many reforestation attempts, some resulting in failures and some in success. As a result, we know a lot about successfully restoring self-sustaining and diverse native forest ecosystems. Forests offer a shovel-ready carbon capture solution. So even growing a forest for 25 years is the fastest solution we have at this time. In addition to their speed and scalability relative to other technology-based carbon capture solutions, forests are also preferable in terms of cost and safety, making massive reforestation by far the most promising carbon capture solution at hand. Our work now is to begin scaling immediately. The rainforests of Sumatra are some of the last remaining in the world, and the only place where elephants, tigers, rhinos and orangutans live together. But they’re being intentionally burned and bulldozed to clear forest for Conflict Palm Oil and pulp plantations – a big problem for both the health of local communities, the rainforests, and for our climate. One of the biggest culprits in Indonesia is the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group that controls millions of acres of land used for both pulp and palm oil production. Despite RGE’s track record of mass deforestation, fires, community conflicts and human rights abuses, Kao still sources palm oil from RGE and maintains a joint-venture with its palm oil arm APICAL. By doing so, Kao is complicit in destroying livelihoods of Indigenous communities such as the Pargamanan-Bintang Maria community.

There are 1 billion car drivers around the world. Why is there no talk of cutting the top speed to the optimum for fuel consumption/emissions to 80km/hr. This would be a great first step that could cut up to 1 billion tonnes of CO2 in a year. This would be measurable by each driver and each country and provide the success needed to encourage even further cuts in consumption.

Yishan Wong, the former Reddit CEO is now an eco-warrior and intends to plant ONE-Trillion Trees!!! He plans to reverse climate change His theory is that the degraded land could be irrigated for 20 year which would lead to a climate change and can produce its own rainfall. He is doing his experiment in Hawai as he belives that If you can do it here then you can do it everywhere. Let's give him some Climate Love and send good wishes! We're so thankful for the work of this amazing community working on climate solutions! At Terraformation, we believe that forests are the cheapest, easiest, and safest way to capture carbon and stabilize our climate. Among all carbon drawdown options, they are also most effective and immediately scalable. Forests are powerful carbon capture tools that already absorb nearly one-third of our global emissions. And we can dramatically expand this carbon sink. Many studies estimate that about 2 billion acres of degraded land is available for restoration. Restoring forests at this scale is a huge task, but there are solutions at every step of the way. We need to collect and safely store seeds of native species to help with restoration efforts, so we've made shippable, modular, and solar-powered seed banks to help. Solar-powered desalination technology will unlock additional afforestation opportunities in arid and dryland ecosystems. And one of the best things is that everyone can get involved. This forum is amazing and there is a lot of useful content here. Companies can use this content to further improve the quality of disposable nitrile gloves although they have not received any complaints about them yet. However, there is still room for improvement https://pumpkinpanicgame.io
