Africa could have gotten a lot from COP26 but it did not. A lot of questions surrounding climate finance and its delivery remain unanswered. Even with the commitments made at COP26, the progress is still insufficient for Africa to transition more quickly. Climate change catastrophe is evidently on the horizon if the world does not act. Costly as such action might be in the short run for individual nations, it is imperative that they be incurred for the sake of maintaining a planet that is capable of producing any kind of shared future prosperity. Collective action remains the Achilles Heel. Many thanks for the information. As you are aware, the UNFCCC secretariat is devoted to supporting the intergovernmental negotiating process on climate change. Thus, your proposal is beyond the scope of our mandate. New technologies together with "thinking outside of the box" will be important components of any sustainable solution. Since the UNFCCC is not directly involved in implementation, it is recommended that you direct your efforts at promoting this project with potential partners. We wish you all the best with your endeavours to create practical innovative solutions to the problem of global warming.

The $100 billion pledge is only a fraction of the amount needed to assist developing countries transition to low carbon economies and address the impacts of climate change. Ahead of COP26, developing countries must think around the mobilization of larger funds to assist with climate mitigation and adaptation. African countries face the prospect of maladaptation during crisis (failure to adjust adequately or appropriately to the environment or situation). Good governance is essential in responding effectively and efficiently to investments. In this respect, countries seeking coal funding would be well advised to exercise serious caution against the temptation to cash in on its coal resources at the long-term expense of the country’s welfare. https://gga.org/the-dangers-of-china-funded-coal-mining-for-botswanas-future/
