Hemp is cannabis, but not the kind grown as a recreational drug. It has less than 0.3%THC, it doesn't produce a psychoactive effect when consumed. Rather, it is a sustainable crop grown for many different commercial and industrial purposes. "Beyond the Green believes that hemp must be on the agenda at COP26, the United Nations‘ summit discussing how to tackle climate change, due to its potential to decarbonise multiple industries and combat climate change through carbon sequestration, as well as its many uses including hempcrete, hemp paper, and as an alternative to fossil fuel-derived plastics. The festival, which is due to take place in nearby St Luke’s in Glasgow’s East End, will feature talks and discussions across the weekend by scientists and industry experts on hemp-based solutions for a greener, cleaner, healthier planet." https://cannabiswealth.co.uk/2021/10/14/beyond-the-green-hemp-cop26-agenda/ Please support this idea by pressing 'Agree' and sharing with others. Hemp appears to be such a wonderful material and source of protein would love to see it more in the debates!

Disclaimer: I do not work at Google or any of its affiliates. Working from home has several environmental benefits: less emissions caused by commuting; using less paper; eco-friendly, healthier diets due to more available time; less plastic usage; improved air quality; and more available time for climate actions. By forcing remote workers to take a pay cut, not only will Google suffer from loss of talent and demotivated employees, they are consequently encouraging employees to commute to work – effectively increasing the negative impact Google and its employees have on the environment and the climate crisis. Please 'Agree' and share for maximum exposure. https://www.reuters.com/world/the-great-reboot/pay-cut-google-employees-who-work-home-could-lose-money-2021-08-10/ https://www.virtualvocations.com/blog/telecommuting-survival/8-environmental-benefits-of-remote-work/ https://www.wired.com/story/google-remote-work-pay-cuts-big-tech/

Irrefutable science has identified global temperatures are rising due to anthropogenic climate change – we are causing a state of emergency. Earth's forest play a major role in sequestering atmospheric carbon dioxide. In a time where we need to protect forests, we cannot promote deforestation. By including the series 'Big Timber' on Netflix, it is glorifying an industry that contributes to the destruction of forests, forest ecosystems, and the overall environment. We ask Netflix to remove the series 'Big Timber' from its offering. https://www.netflix.com/us/title/81349493?s=a&trkid=13747225&t=cp&vlang=en&clip=81458415

No one sees the connection to recent confrontation regarding old growth logging in BC and this series? Propaganda.

I saw the ad when I logged into Netflix and was appalled. I have friends trying to get to the old growth to stand in the way of its decimation. I would be there too if I could. Over 1000 arrests have been made of people standing in defence of these trees, and all they stand for. This is an egregious denial of the state we are in. I cannot fathom why in this time of pandemics and climate crisis, we’d glorify the destruction of some of the few remaining untouched places on our planet. Do these people have no idea what we loose by gutting our natural world or are they just blinded by the glitter of a higher number in their bank accounts?

What We Are Doing Hemp Save The World is an online marketplace; like Etsy, Amazon, or Airbnb; where you can easily find sustainable sellers of numerous hemp products and services – all in one convenient, easy-to-use platform. Who We Are At the core, we are eco-warriors who are passionate about the incredible potential hemp provides in reversing human-induced climate change. United under the banner of Hemp Save The World, a name that has deep roots within the hemp community, we share a strong belief that hemp can help save the world. We are a start-up based out of British Columbia, Canada. Why We Are Doing It At Hemp Save The World, it is our mission to help others live sustainably by raising awareness of the numerous benefits of hemp and providing the largest source of sustainable hemp alternatives to promote a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle. We envision a future where the environmental impact of humanity is negligible; a future that is environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable for all generations. Hemp provides an unfathomable, unbelievable potential to combat the climate crisis. Illegal to cultivate for the last 60-80 years, one can’t help but to wonder if we would be in a climate crisis today if it wasn’t. The opportunity hemp provides to sequester carbon from the atmosphere into our everyday products, including our homes, will play a major role in reversing human-induced climate change. Wait...What Exactly is "Hemp" a.k.a. "Industrial Hemp"? Cannabis is an annual herbaceous plant that has been used throughout human history for many different purposes, with each part of the plant being used to produce a wide variety of goods ranging from textiles to food and medicine. Today, the terms "industrial hemp" or simply "hemp" are used to describe specific breeds of cannabis which contain less than 0.3% THC — the compound that produces a psychoactive effect when consumed. Consuming industrial hemp (or hemp) can't get one "high," unlike other cannabis breeds. Rather, it is grown specifically for its fibres, flowers, and seeds which are then used in many different applications. Aside from providing a potential systemic revolution of the consumer, commercial, and industrial sectors, it also offers great potential for combating the climate crisis and other environmental, social, and economic problems around the world. www.hempsavetheworld.com

I've always thought plastics, especially single-use plastics, ought to be engineered to be fully compostable after the duration of the usable product life cycle. Is it even possible? For an example: A single-use shopping bag would completely decompose one month after its used. This would account for production, storage, distribution, time in store, and the actual use of the product to carry groceries. Every product has a different product lifecycle duration, each of which would be engineered to decompose afterwards.

Doesn't the composting process release CO2? Although important to reduce the prevalence of plastic waste in the environment this is not a "get out of gaol free" card.
•

It is possible to make fully biodegradable plastics. Several interesting startups and companies are currently developing these kinds of products. However, biodegradable plastic products aren't always great, since the biodegradability is often questionable.
•

Definitely! ‘compostable plastics’ or ‘bioplastics’ typically made from processed corn have been around for almost a decade I believe. Finally now they are starting to take of on a much larger scale!

Climate Reality is a non-profit organization founded by former US Vice President Al Gore with the mission to catalyze a global solution to the climate crisis by making urgent action a necessity across every sector of society. In an effort to achieve its mission, it hosts global Climate Reality Leadership Corps trainings which equips individuals with the most recent climate science and tools to spread the urgent message within their communities - becoming Climate Reality Leaders. The virtual training happening right now, which I'm fortunate enough to be a part of, has a unique focus of a socially just, and sustainable recovery from COVID-19. We cannot successful combat the climate crisis and achieve environmental sustainability if we do not first achieve social sustainability.
