EthicDrinks is creating a sustainable way to drink wine

Let's talk about something that I care about: wine. Created in 2019, the French company EthicDrinks offers its customers ethical wines with a sustainable approach. "For a while, I had been wondering how to make the wine business more considerate of the environment,” said Mickaël Alborghetti, engineer and co-founder of Ethic Drinks, grandson of a winemaker in Burgundy and son of an environmentalist. The business works with eco-design and has for example removed the metal capsules around corks, has been using vegetable glue for wine labels made from recyclable paper, and used bottles in dark glass that are closed with natural corks. They also work with the most sustainable transport possible and are a certified Zero Carbon company. In 2019 Ethicdrinks released 128 tons of CO2, and offset 300 tons by reforestation. EthicDrinks has created 20 wines by blending cuvées from certified winegrowers in France, working with organic, biodynamic methods. All their wines are vegan. The company uses also its wine bottles as a way to communicate its message, with wine names such as "Don't break my ice", "Let it bee" or Planète Vivante (a living planet). The company partners with WWF and participates in actions for the protection of the planet, particularly against plastic pollution in the oceans.
