Ragn-Sells's post

We are proud to be presenting the first in a series of 6 of Circular Tables Talks in a collaboration between Ragn-Sells and We Don't Have Time. The very first show will focus on circularity and the prize on carbon. Bringing together experts on the circular economy, showing examples of projects applying these principles in real life and challenging preconceived notions of what is and isn't waste. The broadcast will go live on Thursday, July 1st, at 15:00 CEST / 9:00 am EST. Speaker program and more info: https://www.wedonthavetime.org/events/circulartabletalks Use the comment section below if you have questions for the speakers. https://youtu.be/IvMI3YwCU3I

I was stunned by the scale of the carbon emissions that could be saved by switching from a linear to a circular economy. But serious change will require great scientific understanding, ingenuity, innovation and reallocation of capital.

CleanDye eliminating water use and using carbon in clothes dyeing blew me away. One of many interesting circular economy views expressed. Great Series to look forward to. #wedonthavetime

This suggests an important viewpoint of how to reduce pollution and carbon emissions by circularity and reuse , by looking at origins and reducing emissions at its sources. Dynamic and practical way forward! It makes sense !

If a solar power plant is build on 1% of the total land area of the Sahara desert, it will satisfy the world’s energy requirement 17% Global Curcularity of econoomy can safe guard natural resources and achive global climate agreement targets Carbon Caputure technology is blossoming Carbon pricing is new debate for politicians in EU (Hope poor people from poor developing nations wont be asked to stop breathing) Where as on the other hand 90 companies responsible for two-third of global carbon emission The US military is a bigger carbon polluter than 140 countries Scientists and security analysts have warned for more than a decade that global warming is a potential national security concern. The latest data from the @CostsOfWar project looks at the US military’s significant contribution that is often overlooked - BrownUniversity Cherry on top: 1% owns 82% global wealth and Almost half of all jobs could be wiped out in 20 years due to automation. Sigh! what direction are we going is confusing ... circular economy sounds brilliant idea on paper I totally support it in theory but how will it help address global inequality problem or will it make it permanant i.e. now those who has accumulated wealth now can turn it a permant by circularising their business and inturn protech their accumulated wealth?

To store and transport energy are one challenge - the risk I see with our circular transformation are that many belive it is doing everything localy but it will not be possisble - industries will need to secure their raw material flows and they will need to source in large scale, here legislations will be needed to be transformed "material banks" will be a new concept I believe in 10 years from now due to that need of large scale sourcing and in fact more and more will be sourced from future circular material flows and here better design will enable it to happen.

With what we know today we will need to reduce our emissions and it means that we both will need to change our processes and also go fossil free. To just take away our fossil fules are not enough.

as high as possible and it needs to be over larger geographies, preferably global. The CO2 tax in Sweden are over 100 Euros. We now see that the ETS prize today are 55 Euros and increasing and as a result we see that industries dependent on fossil fuels are now closing down or transforming. - Follow the prize here https://ember-climate.org/data/carbon-price-viewer/

This depends a lot per country. At a global level, the High-level Panel on Carbon Pricing estimated that, if other supporting policies are also in place, prices of USD 40-80/tonneCO2e in 2020 and of USD 50-100/tonneCO2e would be enough by 2020 to keep temperatures to 2 degrees. But we would need higher prices to keep temperatures to 1.5 degrees, perhaps as high as USD 160/tonne

This is based on economic calculations by a major consultancy, so I think it probably gives us an idea of the kinds of prices that would be needed. But there are always uncertainties in these calculations and it varies per country, so it may be that we need a higher price in some cases. And of course pricing alone will not solve the issue - it is only part of the problem.

Some flows are local but we do see that the mayority of the circular materialflows will be done in larger geographis. Our new factories we are setting up producing phosporus or potassium will be able to source from countries - so it will be a combination of large scale and small scale (reuse and sharing are local)

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle ♻️ Here at Prime Computer, we already follow a circular approach that focuses on our products’ energy efficiency, sustainable material management, reuse and recycling of products. The future needs not only to be about regenerating, but mostly about how to create a more circular more and therefore less waste. 💙
