Algramo is a Chilean company tackling plastic waste and poverty. With its smart packaging, it enables people to “pay for the product, not the packaging”. Through the Algramo app, the users can order as much or as little product such as laundry detergent, rice or pet food, as they need. And an electric three-wheeler delivers the good. The company has also launched refill vending machines all over Chile where people just have to scan their packaging and order as little or as much product as they need. The company is not new and has been going on for 10 years in Chile with the core idea to address poverty in Chile. It recently extended operations in the US and even Indonesia. I wanted to send this climate love for the circularity work Algramo is doing and for the campaign Algramo has recently started to change the law about bulk products in Chile. They launched the campaign # Envase239 which seeks to update the Chilean cosmetics regulations to allow items such as shampoo, soap or balsam to be dispensed in bulk. Today Chile is the largest producer of plastic waste in South America with 990,000 tons of plastic per year: You can read more about the campaign Envase239: envase239.cl Watch the Envase239 campaign here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Sx0OqgNwNo

Thanks to this amazing community! We know that plastic is a major driver of global warming and ocean pollution. It's quite clear, we need to keep plastic in the economy and out of the environment, so we need help from everybody to bring society together and radically change our consumption habits. Join the refill revolution!
