Apotea the first Swedish e-commerce to join the global climate goals (Press release 10 JUNI 2021 16:14)

Apotea.se, Sweden's largest online pharmacy, has had its climate goals approved by Science Based Targets. Apotea thus joins the 1,500 companies worldwide that have joined the global climate goals. Apotea has joined the 1,500 companies globally that have decided to set climate goals based on research through the Science Based Targets initiative. The research emphasizes that warming should not exceed 1.5 degrees to avoid the worst effects of climate change, and with goals set according to Science-Based Targets, Apotea contributes to the world staying within the boundaries of climate. Science Based Targets is an international collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). “Sustainability is an important part both in Apotea's daily work and in the goals we set for the future. We are happy and proud that Apotea is the first e-commerce in Sweden to have its climate goals approved by Science Based Targets. This means that our business has a scientifically based climate goal that follows the Paris Agreement to help reduce global warming, ”says Sofia Modig, head of sustainability at Apotea. An inventory of emissions from Apotea's operations has been made and today the targets for the operations were officially approved. “It is a milestone for Apotea that we have had our climate goals approved, we hope that this will inspire our suppliers and partners to do the same. The more people who set goals and start to reduce their impact, the better for the environment, ”says Pär Svärdson, CEO of Apotea. https://www.apotea.se/apotea-i-media#/pressreleases/apotea-foersta-svenska-e-handel-att-ansluta-sig-till-de-globala-klimatmaalen-3107784 Text for the pictures. Apotea builds electric fleet - "someone should be first" The e-commerce giant Apotea is starting a collaboration with Einride to coordinate and electrify its heavy transports. In this way, the CEO hopes to reduce his company's climate footprint - and soon offer "emission-free deliveries" to his customers.

It is great to see that Apotea’s work with climate action is getting attention! Apotea is a fast-growing e-commerce pharmacy and we have the ambition to be Sweden’s most sustainable company. During 2021 we became the first e-commerce company to have our climate target approved by the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and we are now striving towards net zero. We are implementing a range of solutions to reduce our emissions, such as solar panels on our storage facility roofs. We have also worked hard to improve our packing routines to ensure all the space in our packages is fully utilized, thereby reducing unnecessary transport. Lately we purchased a fleet of electric trucks that will cover most of our linehaul. But as with every retailer, our biggest emissions take place in what is technically called Scope 3 - outside our own operations. To influence this, we must collaborate with and make demands on our supplier partners. This is no small task and we welcome input on how we can address this challenge effectively since we are in the process of developing a solid strategy for Scope 3 emissions.

Great first step for Apotea! I wonder how they will reach their goals as their business sounds very far from sustainable
