Give Climate Idea 💡 to We Don't Have Time: Returning Within the Carrying Capacity of Earth | We Don't Have Time
There are no climate solutions that factor in the ecological damage that is associated with pronatalism and economic growth. Neither of these features of modern techno-industrial civilisation are considered to be dangerous. However, both pronatalism a

Thanks for sharing your perspective—it’s a crucial conversation, and we definitely agree that humanity needs to act now to live within Earth’s limits. 🌍 At SET, we’re focused on enabling startups that are driving low- to zero-emission technologies, which is one key piece of the puzzle. The energy sector is responsible for around 73% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and that’s a figure we urgently need to slash if we want to get back within the habitable zone of planetary boundaries. That said, we vehemently disagree with the population growth thesis, as its Malthusian implications can often carry racist undertones. The issue isn’t how many people there are but rather the high-emission lifestyles we lead in the global north. The focus must be on reducing those emissions and creating equitable solutions. The 9th edition of the SET Award just launched, and we're looking for startups tackling decarbonization in clean energy, buildings, industry, transportation, and SDG7. If your startup is working to make a real impact, apply now and be part of the change! 👉 https://t.ly/zMV4f
And together we've planted over 150,000 trees. One tree is planted for every climate review written to an organization that is Open for Climate Dialogue™.

Thank you for responding. A problem that is challenging and emotionally charged is often collectively denied. Your response reflects the majority who still prefer to deny the reality of ecological overshoot, and its three key drivers as identified through the insights of the I=PAT equation. We are not attempting to rein in any of the three drivers, we are still entrenched in the ecocidal model of economic growth. We are also choosing to ignore the reality of the Jevons paradox. This collective denial is the reason that we have so far failed to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere that is generated by burning fossil fuels. The energy transition is just one facet of the game of delusion and denial in which we are all complicit. The human suffering in Sudan, Gaza, and many other locations, are all symptoms of increasingly scarce natural resources and ecosystems collapse under the pressure of human entitlement. We omitted to allow any rights for other life forms when we drew up the declaration of Human Rights. Thus, it is the right of every human to exacerbate the Sixth Mass Extinction by founding a family, and spending any money earned in any ecologically damaging manner that they might choose. This is the way modern techno-industrial society chooses to progress; even though the planet is already in a state of ecosystems collapse because of the burden of those who are already here. We are doing nothing to protect the unborn from arriving in a world that cannot sustain them without further injury to fragile ecosystems. Choosing the path of delusion and denial is most unwise. The energy transition is just smoke and mirrors to keep up the pretence that we can continue to bleed ecosystems. Along with every other climate policy; not one of them is designed to prevent us from being included in the mass extinction event. We are simply trying to perpetuate the ecocidal business as usual. Growth economics does not work in ecosystems collapse, it is neither appropriate nor wise.
