Today: They pulled out of UNESCO (effective 31 dec 2026)
Tomorrow: The Grand Canyon? Yellowstone? Alaska’s wildlands?

Last Friday, the EPA eliminated its Office of Research & Development, axing 23% of its scientists and shutting climate and health science teams — saving $748M but undermining public health and environmental safeguards. Today, the US anounced the will withdrew from UNESCO — the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization — leaving only one other UN member outside a global 194‑nation alliance dedicated to protecting science, culture, education, and heritage . This isn’t bureaucracy. It’s a strategic retreat from truth. 🌍 What could be next? Let’s be real — this isn’t about principles. It’s about power, profit, and the fear of science stopping them.

• 🏜 Uranium mining near the Grand Canyon, previously paused by international pressure.
• 🌲 Gas pipelines near Yellowstone’s protected zones.
• ⛏ Stripped protections for Bears Ears, opening it to coal and mineral mining.
• 🌋 Ignoring damage to Indigenous sacred sites. These aren’t hypotheticals. They’ve been proposed, paused, or blocked — often due to scientific review and international pressure. But without UNESCO oversight and strong science institutions, they’ll be easier to advance — and harder to stop. 🏛 Strategic erasure? UNESCO was born from the ashes of WWII to preserve memory, culture, and collective truth. Today’s retreat from science and global cooperation is not random — it’s a calculated erasure of anything that dares challenge unchecked power.
👁️ The question now is: Will we let them do it? The more people who understand what’s happening — and why — the easier it is to stop it. But the longer we wait to mobilize, the harder it will be to reverse the damage. 👉 Join the movement: #MakeScienceGreatAgain 💚 We’re building a global alliance to defend science, truth, and nature. 💚 Get your #MakeScienceGreatAgain cap — a bold conversation starter and symbol of resistance. 💚 Agree & Share this. Tag those who care. Break the silence before it’s permanent. Make Science Great Again 🧠 When truth becomes a threat, science becomes resistance.

Scientists are being silenced. Disinformation spreads faster than facts. We’re risking a future where science is sidelined — just when we need it most.
