In a stunning and dangerous move, the United States government is preparing to revoke the scientific finding that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health—a legal foundation that has underpinned U.S. climate action for more than 15 years.
The Environmental Protection Agency, now led by Trump loyalist Lee Zeldin, announced plans to eliminate the 2009 “endangerment finding”—an action that would strip the EPA of its authority to regulate carbon pollution and dismantle the last legal guardrails on fossil fuel expansion.

The IEA forecasts show:
Wind and solar will nearly double from 4,000 to over 6,000 TWh between 2024 and 2026
Renewables will supply 36% of global electricity by 2026
Coal’s global share will fall to its lowest level in a century
Power sector emissions will decline, driven by clean growth
