Provegs campaign "Diet Change not Climate Change", that they promoted during Stockholm+50 as well as Bonn Climate Conference, made me pledge to eat less animal based food and more plant based. The facts are telling why this is important: 1) Farming and the eating of animals is a leading contributor to the global climate crisis, responsible for about 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. 2) Farming and the eating of animals causes tremendous damage to our forests. 80% of the world’s deforestation [1] is related to our current food system and nearly 70% of cleared land in the Amazon is used for cattle grazing. 3) Switching to a plant-based diet could reduce your food-related emissions by up to 50%. Great campaign by proveg International, methane gas is one of the greenhouse gases that is produced by eating of animals; the initiative will go along way to reduce such emissions reducing the effect of climate change.

@timothy_ndegwa Exactly. It is unfortunate that animal agriculture is not prioritized in reducing methane emissions. We are working on changing that. Hopefully we will see some improvements this year at COP27
