ABB's Parts Circularity Program, which focuses on industrial electronic waste management, has reduced e-waste by 93% since its launch in 2020. The program deals with the repair, reuse, and recycling of faulty industrial parts to extend their lifecycle, reduce waste, and conserve resources. The amount of e-waste sent to landfills decreased from 214.5 kg in 2020 to just 14.2 kg by 2023. ABB works with recycling partners like Stena Recycling and Ohio Drop Off to ensure traceability and sustainability, providing certified reports on material properties. The program also incentivizes customers to exchange faulty parts for remanufactured components, further promoting a circular economy. When parts cannot be reused, ABB ensures responsible disposal and material recovery, supporting its broader sustainability goals of reducing emissions and reliance on virgin materials.
