Discover the 8billion documentary project! 8Billion is a grassroots storytelling movement whose mission is to amplify the local and diverse voices of resilient communities around the world, inspiring the next generation of storytellers and climate innovators.
The first season of 8Billion is gathering stories from Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad. Due to climate change, Africa is becoming more vulnerable to extreme environmental and economic degradation. However, the Sahel is also home to inspirational community-driven stories of climate resilience and adaptation and 8Billion has been gathering them in inspiring short documentaries.
This project is a collaboration between, Resilient Foundation and World Bank´s Connect4Climate, and PROGREEN’s Sahel Landscape Restoration Programs. And they have now released the last two documentary shorts on WaterBear’s YouTube – this time from Niger. These films offer perspectives from Nigerien youth on local solutions to the global challenges posed by the climate crisis.
Watch the last two episodes:
Plastic Man: Join Abdou Karim Elhaj Adamou, an advocate for environmental sustainability, as he uses art to guide Niger's youth to adopt eco-friendly practices and combat plastic pollution.

Du fleuve au désert (From the River to the Desert): Meet Dr. Bachirou Bodo, who embodies the struggles and triumphs of a community rebuilding their lives in the desert after being displaced by floods.
