Recycling batteries is vital for enviornment, reducing emissions and reducing the need of virgin minerals. If we recycle our lithium-ion batteries we will reduce the demand of extra mining which in many cases causes loss of biodiversity, environmental degradation & human suffering. The battery is the most valuable component of an EV and without reusing it, we are currently wasting precious resources. Reusing an electric vehicle battery in an energy storage system can cut the lifecycle emissions by around 50%. So 60% COULD be from recycled batteries, 40% new ones, that's a lot of mining, loss of biodiversity, environmental degradation, human suffering. Also, how many times can a battery be recycled? The cost of recycling is huge. Green hydrogen maybe better solution?

But what about when demand for and producing of EV rises dramatically and exponentially in the near future? Recycling existing batteries it's not going to be enough, isn't it? New mining, new environmental degrading, new loss of biodiversity incoming.

That's just one of the reasons why we need (green) hydrogen cars, vans, lorries and buses to share the burden of greening road transport.

@alayne_perrott yes, I'm not very well informed, but it looks like maybe green hydrogen is the best solution for transport.
