A very superb interview... It was more like a friendly one on one discussion but with a huge perspective of "my experience", "our experience" , current affairs, solutions, fear, and moreso the "hope" of our tomorrow. My take away from Paul, is that we must keep "pushing" individually and collectively and at the end of the day the result from solutions we are applying today will definitely win against this fossil fuel industry, so let's keep pushing, something else very important he emphasized on, is we must use our voice and all medium avairable and raise the voice to our politicians, leaders, governments, business community, etc and let awareness about our environment and the more we raise our voices to our politicians even through the political parties, etc, the higger chances we have to win the bull in the house with its horns. Looking forward to hearing the next speaker, expert, etc in the next series of #MoveTheMoney
Here are some ways that am going to suggest to paint Nyanza Region green. Personally am dreaming to to help change the hot temperatures in nyanza to cool and this is only possible through planting trees(forestation) in the whole of nyanza Region. There's a lot of wastelands in Nyanza which can be fully utilized and made productive. This can be achieved through the following ways: 1. Establish a Tree Planting Program: Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and government agencies to create a tree planting program that engages youths in the Nyanza region. 2. Environmental Education: Integrate environmental education into the curriculum of schools in the Nyanza region. This will help youths understand the importance of trees and other environmental-friendly activities. 3. Community Outreach: Organize community events and workshops to raise awareness about the benefits of tree planting and other environmental-friendly activities. 4. Provide Resources: Provide resources such as seeds, tools, and training to youths who are interested in planting trees and participating in other environmental-friendly activities. 5. Encourage Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable practices such as recycling, composting, and reducing waste among youths in the Nyanza region. 6. Create a Green Fund: Establish a green fund that provides financial support for tree planting initiatives and other environmental-friendly projects led by youths in the Nyanza region. 7. Collaborate with Local Businesses: Partner with local businesses to promote eco-friendly products and practices that benefit both the environment and the local economy. 8. Celebrate Environmental Achievements: Recognize and celebrate the achievements of youths who have made significant contributions to tree planting and other environmental-friendly activities in the Nyanza region. By implementing these proposals, we can enlighten and empower youths of Nyanza Region to actively participate in tree planting initiatives and other environmental-friendly activities that benefit both their community and the environment at large.

Most fashion brandsโ emissions occur outside of their own operations. This means they have to rely on data from third parties, such as the landlords for storesโ energy consumption, or the suppliers for fuel and electricity use. So how to collect, verify, and manage the data is key to showing the correct data. The incredible transparency in this report in how they calculate the GHG emissions and whatโs included: raw material, fabric, and garment manufacturing, non-garment goods, packaging, and use of sold productsโฆ not only can show the public where the fashion industry is now towards the green transition but also gives general customers the knowledge to better identify the โGreenwashedโ products in the market. ๐ Coming from a background of working in fashion production, I deeply understand the challenges of shifting the whole supply chain - itโs not within one brandโs capability but requires collective work from all global fashion brands to push for real changes. More than 20% reduced GHG absolute emissions (including scope 3) in 2023 compared to the 2019 baseline is a great achievement. The most ambitious climate target in the industry: 56% by 2030 in 3 scopes, is a responsible approach as one of the industry leaders. This climate Transition plan includes detailed data on GHG emissions from the year 2019 and ambitious targets aligning with the global climate target: the 1.5 degrees. A strategic approach from financing the transition, advocating for systemic change and resource use and circularity to mitigate their value chainโs absolute emissions. This plan is huge, not because of the GHG that will be reduced, but because it will systematically change how people work and live(renewable energy production, regenerative agriculture..) where most of the industryโs production is based: Asia. Many people might say, the fast fashion industry is dirty and itโs impossible to be sustainable. But which industry isnโt? Food? Transportation? Tech?โฆ I am looking forward to the day when I donโt have to feel bad about myself buying a โfast fashionโ brand like H&M. But in the meantime, we all have to work on our own transition plan to fight for the future. https://hmgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Climate-Transition-Plan.pdf

Early childhood education focused on climate change is crucial, instilling foundational knowledge and eco-conscious values in young children. This early exposure fosters environmental stewardship and empowers them to contribute to a sustainable future. This impressionable stage is perfect for developing conservation habits and encouraging proactive climate actions. The Noella Environmental Education program aims to boost climate change awareness among young people through a mix of exciting indoor and outdoor activities like games, puppet shows, educational videos, and science comics. By making learning both fun and informative, we inspire children to actively engage in environmental conservation. In honor of Earth Month this year, we distributed educational game sheets to multiple schools to enrich student learning and support educators in handling climate-related topics. We're excited about the positive student feedback on our Noella games. Special thanks to Michael Wanjuzi Makongo LsA for his commitment to educating students and distributing these resources at his school. #noella #climateeducation #gamification #earllychildhoodeducation https://www.infinityeightproductions.com

The first lecture by Jennie King in Stockholm Series of Public Lectures on Climate Change and Democracy demands time, energy, and deep thinking to understand the context, content of this lecture. However, the way forwards prescribed are relatively easier to understand and to start instant practicing. The to do list, which the speaker nicely described at the end is, therefore, discussed at the beginning of this review. All three challenges need immediate attention because no time is left for wait and watch. The โto do listโ for untangling and forging ahead: Three fierce battles, which could have taken place separately have got intertwined. These three battles are battle of ensuring information and data integrity, battle to win over climate crisis and the battle to protect and upheld democracy. In each of these battles individuals and society as community play decisive role to decide the fate of actions. As these three battles got tangled, the decision making at individual level as well as at collective level is now a very complex task. Our decisions are partly based on the information we receive. Weaponization of information by blending correct facts with blatant lie and wrong data attempt to influence someoneโs decision-making process for somebody elseโs gain. The to do list, which is prescribed by the speaker so that everyone can take their own decision for their own good without getting influenced has few steps. First step is to recognize the red flags. The four yearsโ thorough research by speaker and her team showed that the mis-information and disinformation usually consist few red flags. These red flags are that the mis- information or dis-information are usually embedded with a motive to spread grievances and fear. These tainted information attempts to unify themes on a wrong notion. Stories are usually told about power and freedom and the target audience is apparently approached to be felt valued. These red flags are to be identified. Once these red flags are identified by the reader or the observer the next steps are to be cautious and to practice discernment so that the decision making does not get unintentionally biased towards any vested interest. The speaker and her team have done intensive research on how this influencing machinery works and her first story clearly exemplify how disconnected themes are unified to spread resentment. Possible consequences of climate action have been cleverly equated with consequences of Covid 19 lockdown, which citizens shall automatically desist. Climate actions neither means total lockdown nor means complete disruption. But by unifying the painful memory of Covid19 lockdown with ill perceived consequence of GHG mitigation drives, fossil fuel lobby are influencing citizens to abandon climate actions. Opting for cleaner renewable energies to bend the rising temperature shall impact fossil fuel-based energy sector and, therefore, fossil fuel lobby is trying to influence the pro-renewable decisions. Jennie King, in her lecture nicely clarified why climate justice is inherently championing democracy. Because climate change hits the poorest very hard and battle against climate change is surely for survival of humans as a race and certainly not for betterment of either a few selected citizens or for selected countries only. The energy transition needs to be a sustainable and inclusive transition. Climate agendas need action from everyone worldwide โ from Governments to Corporates to private individuals. The Covid 19 Pandemic, two ongoing wars, accumulation of wealth in few rich people and growing divide between the rich and poor are all impacting the dynamics of geo-politics. Climate actions are being seen through lenses of factionalisms and narrow interests. The urgent need for achieving common goals for common future is missed out. In her presentation she has classified the powers, which are common deterrents for all three types of wars as Stakeholders in carbon economy and Stakeholders in attention economy. While the fossil fuel lobby belong to carbon economy, the definitions of other two groups ( Outrage Marchants and Hostile State actors ) were not clear. The Climate action delayers have been categorized as : 1.Redirecting responsibility (โthis is not my responsibilityโ) 2.Pushing non-transformative solutions ( example: pushing carbon capture storage, which is far from becoming a solution to scale) 3.Emphasizing the downsides of transition 4.Surrender ( It is already too late) The cost of inaction is high. This classification is also applicable in case of inaction in the two other sector i.e. Information integrity and democracy. References of research by Desmog, Harvard University paper 2022, published report of IEA (International Energy Research) shows frequent occurrences of the sponsored anti climate campaigns by fossil fuel industries. Apart from these studies the speaker has also done intensive research to show how the neutrality of Google search engine is tweaked with less important advertisements linked to phrase โclimateโ. Super spread of misinformation by Facebook and 16 Twitter accounts during COP 26,27 28 and obtained likes for Tiktok. Attention seekers are making the matter more chaotic by sensitizing wrong topics or by phrasing misleading headlines. Tiptoeing of far-right groups in climate space for diffusing their own agenda is also creating confusion among citizens who believe in democracy. Ensuing election in European Union (EU) and two wars are also sowing divisions weakening buy in of liberal democratic fronts. The speaker is not only provided a structured outlook to triple challenges but also shared information on EUs Digital Service Act. A holistic assessment is required for independent decision making. Independent and impartial decision is crucial. Right kind of communication is the key. Did you know that half of all Europeans donโt vote in the EU elections? Itโs time to change that โ and your company can help make it happen. Join more than 150 European companies in turning the 9th of June into a celebration of democracy. A day when everyone votes โ no matter what. Democracy is everybody's business. Now, you can make it the business of your business as well. We Donโt Have Time is a proud partner of the Vote Anyway, a brilliant campaign by the 9o6 movement that aims to mobilize 457 million Europeans to vote in the European Elections on June 9. What makes this campaign unique is that it is directed towards companies. Why? you might think. Companies donโt get to vote in the elections. True. But companies are not just economic entities, they are also social players with considerable power to influence. Brands often reach beyond national borders, touching billions of people through their products, services and marketing campaigns. Moreover, many business leaders occupy positions that give them significant influence over the attitudes and behaviours of our employees, business partners and customers. Many companies also have the ears of politicians either directly or via trade associations. In respect to climate action, for example, many commentators agree that the landmark Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 would never have been forged without a range of progressive business leaders urging governments to seal the deal. The 9o6 movement is on a mission to get as many European companies as possible to use their influence to increase voter turnout in the upcoming European Elections. The goal: To increase voter turnout with +5 million citizens. (+1% compared to the European Election in 2019). The non-partisan 9o6 movement was created by Civocracy, a French agency working with mission-driven companies, and is co-launched by Earth4All, BLab Europe, GOPA Com, and We Donโt Have Time. โWe have been living in peace in the EU for over 80 years. But we seem to have forgotten how being able to vote, protest and freely express one's opinions are hard-won rights that can be called into question in a split secondโ, says Chloรฉ Pahud, CEO and Founder of Civocracy. So far, more than 100 European companies have joined the campaign. Among those are Refurbed, Einhorn, Jaw, Advens and ChangeNOW, which together reach more than ten million Europeans on social media. More are signing up every day. Ingmar Rentzhog, CEO and founder of We Donโt Have Time is eager to help grow this pioneer brand movement for democracy. โThe ways this campaign uses the influence of companies to mobilize voters is simply brilliant. We are proud to be a part of this democracy movement and will do our best to mobilize as many European companies in our network as we possibly can.โ Join the 9o6 movement! Together, weโll mobilize our audiences to vote in the EU parliamentary elections in June. Register your company for the campaign See whoโs already signed up

It would be nice to have a boycott option among idea, warning, post and love. People who are also boycotting that product for example would also agree with the boycott. Then the companies, organizations, politicians and others would be able to see, how much profit or support they have lost and might feel it more urgent to take action fast.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cck39TbnSEw&t=14s In Move the Money Campaign, We Don't Have Time (WDHT) is not only focusing on what should not be continued but also is bringing the fellow warriors from other continents and are trying to pave the way forwards together. Julia Segal is Senior Program Manager, Climate Finance, Environment Defense Fund, Canada. She worked in financial investment and has seen the impacts of investment on renewables very closely. It gave her the insight about the gaps and weaknesses of renewable energy sector in her own country and she shifted to work for financial policies, which shall create a conducive environment for growth of cleaner and sustainable industries. Ingmar Rentzhog and Julia Segal both are from finance background, and both have left their comfort zone to respond to the inner call to take climate action. Both with their core domain expertise have effortlessly identified the forces which are holding the investors back from renewable and sustainable industrial solutions. Few powerful factors are hindering the growth and progress of renewables. It is lack of trust, denial of political leaders about the ground reality, which is shaken by climate change adversities. It is loyalty of the political leaders to the donors from oil and gas sectors, who are funding their election campaigns. It is active lobbying of oil and gas industries. All these factors are stopping the growth of the unicorns with sustainable solutions. This barrier is to be broken. Enough regulations are to be built and are to be promoted to introduce renewables at a desired scale and required pace. The representation of Oil and Gas industries in Corporate Board rooms are very strong. One in five Directors in leading Canadian Institutions are connected to Oil and Gas Industry. Transparency and aligned momentum can make the difference. Two third of population asked for climate change in Canada. Yet, political leaders and major banks are still choosing to cling to carbon. But this inertia of major banks and political leaders shall not deter the actions of committed teams like WDHT or EDF Canada from doing what needs to be done. The tide shall turn, and sustainable development shall take place for survival of the world.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/The-Novel-Material-Revolutionizing-Energy-Storage.html Scientists created artificial heterostructures made of freestanding 2D and 3D membranes to address energy loss in ferroelectric capacitors. The new material exhibits an energy density up to 19 times higher than commercially available capacitors while achieving an efficiency of over 90%. This breakthrough has implications for next-generation electronics, electric vehicles, and infrastructure development, offering high-performance energy storage solutions. The material is built from artificial heterostructures made of freestanding 2D and 3D membranes that have an energy density up to 19 times higher than commercially available capacitors. Electrostatic capacitors play a crucial role in modern electronics. They enable ultrafast charging and discharging, providing energy storage and power for devices ranging from smartphones, laptops, and routers to medical devices, automotive electronics and industrial equipment. However, the ferroelectric materials used in capacitors have significant energy loss due to their material properties, making it difficult to provide high energy storage capability.

Climate mitigation lawsuits have drastically increased over the past few years. And while courts in various countries have recently ruled in favor of the planet, Big Oil is now fighting back. One such example of a lawsuit is City & County of Honoluluโs lawsuit against the fossil fuel company Sunoco LP to compensate for the damages done to the planet. It is the first climate liability lawsuit of its kind that has gone to trial and claims that these huge fossil fuel companies owe a big financial compensation for the damage done to the planet and for the damages to be done in future. This money shall be used to invest in green energy. According to Heated, an investigative newsletter on the climate crisis, "Honolulu's climate lawsuit is an existential threat to Big Oil. So theyโre buying Republican attorneys general to defend them in court." โItโs all building toward more cases in more places using more legal theories to hold these companies accountable,โ said Richard Wiles, president of the Center for Climate Integrity, a nonprofit offering legal and communication support to communities suing oil companies to the North Dakota Monitor. Over 32 cases filed against fossil fuel companies Wilesโ team has tracked about 32 such cases filed against big fossil fuel companies like BP, Exxon Mobil and Shell. These lawsuits argue that the oil companies through their own research decades ago have been aware of the connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change, and yet they tried to hide these facts all the same. News agencies like the Los Angeles Times and Inside Climate News had even reported on the same. According to The Columbian, these lawsuits argue that the fossil fuel industry, in its โhidingโ the facts from the public, is in clear violation of a variety of laws including fraud, racketeering, public nuisance, consumer protection, failure to warn, and so on. Experts say that if the big companies lose, then we are talking of billions of dollars worth of fines. The Honolulu lawsuit has been facing more and more obstacles with each passing day. So much so that many fossil fuel-funded groups like the American Petroleum Institute have filed petitions to the U.S. Supreme Court and requested that the trial be stopped from moving forward. Republican state attorneys file petitions against the climate lawsuits An additional 20 Republican state attorneys general have filed similar petitions with the Supreme Court. Approximately half of the chief legal officers of the country are asking to put a stop on these cases. These lawsuits have received a hostile welcome from the Republican officials as well. What is RAGA? Science is clear that humanity needs to urgently curb emissions in order to avoid negative tipping points and to limit the temperature rise to a level that is manageable for our societies. However, the behavior of the Republic attorneys in this case seems like a strange choice of action. Apparently, this is in connection with the Republican Attorneys General Association, RAGA. According to Lisa Graves, executive director of True North Research, RAGA is a pay-to-play group. Speaking to Heated, she says, โIt was created to allow industries to wash money into RAGA, which RAGA then uses to fuel the election campaigns and ambitions of AGs.โ โThese AGs, their political futures are underwritten by RAGA,โ Graves said. โAnd who underwrites RAGA? The fossil fuel industry, along with Leonard Leo. Itโs not technically money laundering, but it has that appearance,โ Graves said. According to a The New York Timesโ report in 2014, the members of this group, who can pay $25,000 as annual fees, have a hand in shaping the organizationโs legal strategy via modes like โonline RAGA briefing roomsโ. Also, the members who pay $125,000 get access to private meetings with attorney generals and invitations to in-person events with them. In 2016, the Center for Media and Democracy also got access to audio from one of these events. It was titled โClimate Change Debate: How Speech is Being Stifledโ and included former Alabama attorney general Luther Strange, AFPM president Chet Thompson, and noted fossil-funded climate denier Myron Ebell. The discussion was about protecting ExxonMobil from climate lawsuits like Honoluluโs. Thompson said, โWeโre facing a coordinated campaign to demonize, weaken and try to destroy the industry. However, he also said that stopping these lawsuits alone is not enough to protect the fossil fuel industry. It actually needed protection from almost all federal environmental regulation. And ever since then, the Republican attorneys general have been leading lawsuits against every environmental regulation till date. In the words of the former Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Michael Wilson, โThe AGs are violating their public duty to protect the future of their citizenry. This partisan political use of the rule of law is what has caused the judicial branch of government to descend to its lowest level of public approval in recorded history.โ Climate lawsuits from around the world Prof Wim Thiery, a climate scientist involved in multiple climate change and litigation conferences said there are different subfields to climate litigation, like attribution science which supports climate reparation cases. A recent example is the group of 2,000 Swiss women who filed a lawsuit against their government stating that Switzerland was failing to do enough for combating climate change and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled in their favor. Impact attribution research played a key role in this case. Dr Rupert Stewart-Smith, Oxford University researcher and Dr. Anna Vicedo-Cabrera, Swiss epidemiologist published a report that Swiss women are disproportionately at risk of heat-related mortality in Switzerland. This helped them get a ruling in their favor. This, along with many other such decisions like in India, Peru, and the US, will set a precedent for future climate lawsuits throughout the world. Impact of climate change all over Asia People the world over are experiencing extreme weather conditions, especially in Asia, according to the Dhaka Tribune. The south and eastern part of Asia have recorded extreme heat waves, with Bangladesh recording 40 degrees Celsius in April, with the worst of it yet to come. Speaking of South Asia, India is currently facing the general elections. And the climate issue may not be on their agenda, but, according to the Indian Express, the significant decrease in voter turnout has led to the election authorities setting up a taskforce โto review the impact of heatwave[s]โ on the election. Likewise, China has faced extreme floods again this year. According to Xinhua, over 110,000 have been evacuated from the Guangdong province in China post record-breaking rainfall that led to widespread flooding and vast economic losses. Southern China recorded more than double the usual rainfall in April this year, stated China Daily. According to a report from the Financial Times, the World Meteorological Organization has published a report warning that climate change โis causing major repercussions across Asiaโ. South Koreans are also filing lawsuits against their government for failure to protect 200 people, which included children and young environmental activists, by not taking proper action against climate change, according to a Reutersโ report. The list is getting longer and longer. Climate lawsuits have seen an increase in the recent few years According to the Global Climate Litigation Report: 2023 Status Review, about 2,180 climate-related cases were filed in 65 jurisdictions in various courts all over the world as of December 2022. The number of climate mitigation lawsuits have recorded a two-fold increase since 2017 and show no signs of slowing down. This proves that climate litigation is going to play a major role in securing climate action and justice. Inger Andersen, Executive Director of UNEP said, โClimate policies are far behind what is needed to keep global temperatures below the 1.5ยฐC threshold, with extreme weather events and searing heat already baking our planet. People are increasingly turning to courts to combat the climate crisis, holding governments and the private sector accountable and making litigation a key mechanism for securing climate action and promoting climate justice.โ It seems like a head-on battle and the fight is still on. https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/press-release/climate-litigation-more-doubles-five-years-now-key-tool-delivering https://heated.world/p/big-oil-is-quietly-paying-state-legal

When thinking about climate change and its consequences, many first think of rising sea levels and higher temperatures. While these can indeed be consequences, there is a much more wide range of consequences. For example, extreme weather events caused by climate change impact our mental health. But climate change not only impacts our mental health. It also impacts our physical bodies, for example, because of additional heat, temperature variations, and humidity changes. In โ10 Effects Of Global Warming On Pregnant Women And Birth Defectsโ, I explain the consequences for pregnant women and unborn babies. These environmental changes can cause issues such as hunger, stress, injuries, disease, and even death. And it is already happening: every day, over 150,000 deaths and 5 million disabilities-adjusted life-years have been caused by climate change since the 1970s, especially in developing countries. Disabilities-adjusted life-years are the years of life lost due to premature death and the years lived with disability! As climate change can cause or contribute to disease and disability, it means it not only affects us as a whole but also particular body parts. Here are examples of body parts that are affected by climate change: Skin The first example body part that is affected by climate change is our skin. Our skin is impacted directly and indirectly by climate change through higher temperatures, behavioral changes, air pollution, and limited access to treatment. This impact is complex, as several factors influence this relationship at the same time. One example factor influencing the relationship between climate change and skin health is that higher temperatures caused by climate change can increase our exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation is an important cause of skin cancer. Exposure to UV radiation increases when skies are less frequently covered by clouds due to higher temperatures or when we spend more time outside. But extremely high temperatures can also cause us to stay inside air-conditioned rooms more often so that we have less exposure to sunlight. This reduces the amount of vitamin D being produced by our bodies, which is important to protect us from UV radiation. This means that when we do go outside, we are more vulnerable to UV light. Another example factor influencing the relationship between climate change and skin health is that climate disasters such as floods, hurricanes, and wildfires can damage our skin, from slight, harmless bruises to life-threatening damage, such as third-degree burns. As these disasters can limit the availability of healthcare services needed to recover from skin damage or prevent us from getting help, this can cause further health issues, such as infections, blood poisoning, or even death. Eyes The second example body part that is affected by climate change is our eyes. One example impact of climate change is that heat waves โ which are becoming more frequent due to climate change โ can cause inflammation in the cornea. The cornea is the transparent outer layer of the eye that covers the iris and the pupil and allows light to enter the eyeball. This can in turn lead to eye infections caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi and to allergic reactions. Retina disorders are issues with the light-sensitive layer at the back of our eyes, which converts visible light into signals for the brain. Another example impact of climate change is that more UV radiation can reduce the immunity of cells in our eyes. As a consequence, our eyes are more likely to catch an inflammation or infection. Also, UV radiation can trigger latent viruses. Latent viruses are viruses that are in our bodies, but are inactive and donโt cause any symptoms. Once they are triggered, they can start causing problems and symptoms. And UV radiation together with a heat wave can increase the risk of tumors in the eye, cataract, and retinal disorders. Cataract involves the lens becoming cloudy, which impairs our eyesight. A third example impact of climate change is that changed climatic circumstances can reduce food production, causing malnutrition. Malnutrition means that we donโt have enough to eat or an unbalanced diet. This can cause for example a vitamin A deficiency called xerophthalmia, which causes problems with our eyes, especially in children younger than five years old. When left untreated, they can turn blind. In adults, malnutrition can lead to eye diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. Glaucoma involves increased eye pressure that damages the optic nerve, which transmits the signals to the brain; age-related macular degeneration is an eye disease that impairs our central vision. Mouth The third example body part that is affected by climate change is our mouth. While our mouth may not seem like a critical body part, oral health is very important for general health. Also, problems with our mouth are related to several chronic diseases including diabetes: if our gum is inflamed, this can lead to higher blood sugar levels, which can contribute to developing diabetes. In some countries, oral diseases are in the top 5 health diseases that put a large health burden on the country. Also, the health of our mouth not only impacts how well we can chew food but also how we speak, smell, and look and thus impacts whether we can flourish in life. This means, that climate change has directly and indirectly a large impact on my aspects of our lives: - Rising global temperatures make health conditions worse in patients with teeth problems. Heat impacts them even further when it changes their behavior, allows their disease to spread to other people, affects availability of much-needed health services, and limits energy and water availability. Also, heat can make microorganisms more resistant to antibiotics and reduce the quality of stored medicines. - Extreme weather events such as floods and droughts can cause limited food availability. This in turn can cause malnutrition, which can lead to several oral issues such as angular cheilitis, ulcerative gingivitis, and abnormalities with the bones in our mouths. Angular cheilitis involves cracked skin in the corners of the mouth and ulcerative gingivitis involves inflamed and sore gums. - Higher humidity will change viruses, virus hosts, and how likely diseases can be transmitted. It can also cause newer fungi diseases to develop, which can have serious consequences for our mouth. For example, fungal Mucormycosis can for example cause tooth pain, loose teeth, and tingling or pricking sensations in the lip. Conclusion and how we can take action So, climate change impacts various body parts, including our skin, eyes, and mouth. Just to name a few. To reduce the negative impact, it is critical to limit greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible. Here are practical ideas of what you and I can do to limit these emissions and take care of our bodies as well as possible: - Using environmentally friendly sun protection, including as little sunscreen as possible, hats, and sunglasses - Using antibiotics only when necessary - Sharing information about the impact of climate change on various body parts with others (for example, by sharing this article) - Reducing CO2 emissions as much as possible, for example by traveling by bike instead of a motorized vehicle (see โA Guide to a Healthier Planetโ and my other articles for many more ideas) - Supporting or setting up training programs that make health professionals aware of the consequences of climate change in their field of expertise Which one of these can you implement in your daily life? And do you have further ideas of what you and I could do? https://www.wedonthavetime.org/events/movethemoney-interviews The 38 minutes conversation between Ingmar Rentzhog and David Hayman, Campaign Director, Make my money is rivetted to find out whether popularity of this very successful campaign involving Olivia Coalmine, is realizing into tangible action. Here, action means transfer of investment from fossil fuel industry to the cleaner and greener sectors. The discourse draws the attention of the viewers towards a good amount of information. 1. Handelsbanken, the Swedish Bank is the first bank to rise above the fear of losing profit by leaving fossil fuel industry. 2. Oxfam and Christian left Barkley's because Barkley is still investing in fossil fuel. 3. Fund for renewables is growing but rate of growth needs to be increased ten times. Actually 4.5 Trillion US$ is required per annum growth of renewables to scale. 4. Most of the big banks are yet to have time bound policy for moving the money from fossil fuel sector to sectors of cleaner fuels, renewables, nature-based solutions and afforestation. 5. Banks are required to act fast because of two reasons. Firstly, banks can boost the growth of climate friendly solutions. Secondly, if banks are not investing in fossil fuel sector, then banks shall not defend these industries anymore. Ingmar looked worried as an interviewer understandably because WDHT is really concerned about the rate of transition. The fantastic campaign by David Hayman and his team has been liked by a huge audience. But it is still to influence the key actors i.e. banks to take scalable actions. Banks and financial institutions also try to defend their stands by saying that if they sell their position then someone else shall buy it. This logic sounds like if majority of banks and institutions reach a consensus of not investing into fossil fuel than individual banks shall follow that path i.e. a tipping point is to be reached. The situation may not be as disheartening as it feels now apparently. Researchers in sustainability transition showed that two events play crucial role in alteration of socio-technical regime. Transition needs the niche, which challenges the existing regime, and it also needs a landscape pressure that pulls the niche to break the barrier and to alter the existing regime. The good news is that the actions by Handelsbanken, Oxfam, Christian are creating these niches and efforts at international level is building strategic consensus. The popularity of the campaign by David Hayman indicates collective willingness is growing. and the tipping point may be actually nearer than it is perceived. It is now the time to escalate the landscape pressure till the point of tipping is reached in reality. https://www.wedonthavetime.org/events/movethemoney-interviews

Solar energy usage is on the rise in California and several other states across the nation. This raises an important question: Is our power grid capable of supporting the anticipated growth in solar power utilization? In particular, California's Solar for All initiative has allocated $250 million to enhance residential solar installations within low-income and disadvantaged communities. This investment underscores a commitment to renewable energy but also emphasizes the need for infrastructure It is crucial to thoroughly assess the capacity of our power grid to ensure it can handle the demands of accelerating clean energy implementation before expanding services to residential areas. Failure to do so could lead to significant systemic failures. https://woods.stanford.edu/news/cepp-research-director-michael-mastrandrea-briefs-california-state-senate-energy-staff #solarenergy #sustainablefuture #powergrid #climatechange
