The High Court has issued restraining orders to bar President William Ruto decision of lifting logging ban in Kenya. The head of state ordered the lifting of the ban that was imposed in 2018 in the month of July. President cited a big challenge of people depending on logging industry to make ends meet. However his decision was challenged in court by Law Society of Kenya (LSK) highlighting there was no public participation while making the decision. "Orders are granted staying the government directive on the revocation of the Gazette notices previously issued for degazettement of forest areas/designating areas as forests and the re-introduction of the shamba System," the order issued by Justice Oscar Angote reads. Furthermore the court court also stopped the state from granting such licences and permits to cut down trees. As the case awaits next hearing is on August 14, 2023 I support the court's decision and believe we must protect our forests by all means. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DtjZajym6Ji8&ved=2ahUKEwjypfT5kcGAAxXSWaQEHSggARQQwqsBegQIExAG&usg=AOvVaw0IiW5RSfapuP42bN_OPRoI

Airthium’s heat pump technology has the potential to make clean industrial heat more economical than using natural gas, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and creating a cleaner, more sustainable process i love this.

A planned oil pipeline to help Uganda export its crude to international markets has “devastated” the lives of thousands of people who have experienced delayed or inadequate compensation for their land, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Monday. The rights group also said the project, in which TotalEnergies has a 62 percent stake, is a disaster for the planet as it will add emissions that exacerbate climate change. EACOP has been a disastor to tens of thousands and it will be disastrous to many with what it will emit to our planet... it was sad to see in the news Uganda’s long-serving president, Yoweri Museveni, who has endorsed the project warning that he will not “allow anybody to play around” with “my oil”. Poor us!

This is the first time the ECHR has considered a case involving the effects of climate change on human rights. It comes after six years of fighting in Swiss courts with no results.Heatwaves are becoming more common and temperatures are rising faster than the global norm in Switzerland. The women of Switzerland, who name themselves the Club of Climate Seniors and are, on average, 73 years old, claim that climate change threatens their human rights, health, and even their lives. Their medical records are a key piece of proof in their case. They are asking the ECHR to mandate that Switzerland do more to cut carbon emissions. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65107800 Elisabeth Stern, a climate change activist, told the BBC, "Due to climate change, we have more heatwaves and older women suffer more." During heatwaves, their mortality rates are higher than normal. Why complain, they say; you're going to perish soon enough. But we don't want to be sacrificed because the Swiss government can't formulate a workable climate strategy.

Global warming set to break key 1.5C limit for first time
The world is likely to hit 1.5C of warming within the next five years because of rising carbon emissions.
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-65602293
Scientists predict there's a 66% chance we will pass 1.5C between now & 2027 !!! "in 2016, the warmest on record, global temperatures were 1.28C above the pre-industrial figure. Now researchers say that figure is set to be smashed - they are 98% certain the high mark will be broken before 2027." https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-65602293

Bloomberg • 21 May 2023 South Africa is prepared for legal fights with environmental groups over the government’s plans to use ship-mounted power plants to resolve the nation’s blackout crisis, the energy minister told the Johannesburg-based Sunday Times. “Environmentalists veto every development they don’t like,” Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe told the newspaper. “People can take us to court as many times as they can, we will continue with gas and petroleum exploration.”... https://dailyinvestor.com/energy/17881/mantashe-ready-to-fight-for-karpowership/

'Russia on Friday declared the environmental group Greenpeace an "undesirable organization." The designation criminalizes the work of organizations that bear the brand and puts employees at risk of criminal prosecution. The "undesirable" or "foreign agent" labels have been applied to dozens of foreign NGOs in Russia since the classifications first came into use in 2015. "Undesirable" is the stronger designation of the two, leading to an effective ban in the country rather than closer monitoring by authorities.' https://www.dw.com/en/russia-declares-greenpeace-an-undesirable-organization/a-65681257

Mr Sven from south Africa is an environmentalist cycling all the way from the tip of Africa to the top of the continent advocating for climate change effects and trying to stop the extraction of fossil fuels on the continent. I was glad to meet him and hosted him at this time he is in Kenya advocating his activism for a better planet, he is ambassador of our Africa and he said he will be our ambassador for We Dont Have Time in his mission across different African counties, I conquered with this great message from him. "As humans, we are not passengers, we are all crew… Do what you can. where you are, with what you have for our mother earth" Fautley, He advises Africa to highlight the effect of what he calls neocolonialist extraction especially to the fossil fuels companies.... He doesn't fear telling them..."Go solar, or go home,” Sven, has been working with Greenpeace Africa and Extinction Rebellion since 2019 after his riding has seen him lauded by such groups. He is a great vegan supporter who doesn't support food wastage. Keep it up Fautley world 🌍 needs people like you. His decision of refusing being just another keyboard warrior shouting from the sidelines, and deciding to hop on his bicycle and cycle all the way from South Africa to find out first-hand what is going on in different parts of Africa and amplify the voices of those directly affected,is very commendable. Does he document his journey, mission 🤔 etc?
