Three of the UK's biggest banks, NatWest, Lloyd's and Standard Chartered, are showing the way and have ruled out funding deep sea mining, with many more major companies now turning their backs on plans to mine the seafloor. A total of £2.28 trillion in potential funding is as result now off-limits to deep sea mining companies!! Ocean Community friends, Blue Marine say: “With growing momentum amongst responsible lenders and businesses rejecting deep sea mining, it’s time for the UK Government to show global leadership and back a moratorium on the practice before it is too late."(Jonny Hughes, Policy Manager at Blue Marine.) We all need to increase pressure on our governments; If you are a UK or British citizen, you can join thousands of others in saying no to deep sea mining by signing this petition today: https://lnkd.in/gGVbmY5V

Woow congratulations
Sorry to say it but even we/our WDHT community need to increase our sense of urgency, sharpen our messaging and focus on the big issues (energy- and food systems, over-population, Ocean destruction (cooling system, decarbonization engine, carbon sequestration and resource generator) and ignorant governments and policy makers! To resolve this, incremental is wonderful but (!!!) we need scalable and impactful short term deployable solutions! We are in serious trouble now!! We don’t have TIME💥 Perhaps most importantly, we need to stop the diplomacy and SPEAK UP!! I have in person now watched fires across Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and it’s not (!!) normal! Just ordered a small energy efficient e-car. Too many existing e-cars are replicating large size luxury cars. Let’s together consider launching more campaigns…consumer- and voting power holds value. What do you think? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/30/total-climate-meltdown-inevitable-heatwaves-global-catastrophe

I agree with you Susanne. It's more important than ever to speak up. If you don't dare to use your voice and speak up about your opinions then you are part of the problem. This is silence that is killing us, mostly. @Wedonthavetime is preparing a lot of global-scale climate action for this purpose. You will find us gathering people to spread the right messages, both from NYC and from Egypt for the next COP27. In the meantime, let's use this space to create change.

We love the action! We cannot only talk. As consumers we can sign petitions, chose the ocean friendly banks, vote for ocean friendly politicians, not use oil and avoid plastics.
