Mayumi Sato is a PhD candidate and Gates Cambridge scholar at the University of Cambridge. Over the past seven years, she has worked in advocacy and organizing around reforestation, gender and social equity in forest landscapes, and land reclamation and resettlement in Asia, North America, and Europe. Her research areas focus on global environmental justice and stewardship, and use participatory methods to inform greater political and social policy and advocacy changes. Mayumi is a National Geographic Explorer, Arctic Basecamp Climate Science Ambassador, and serves on the UN Women Asia and the Pacific 30 for 2030 Network.
