Honored and Ecstatic! 🌍 #beatplasticpollution I am thrilled to announce that EcoBrixs has been awarded the prestigious Environment Sustainability Award 2023 by the government on this World Environment Day! 🏆🎉 At EcoBrixs, we have always believed in the power of community-driven initiatives to create a lasting impact on our planet. Our model has successfully scaled up the collection of plastics, resulting in cleaner communities and a healthier environment. ♻️💚 But that's not all! We have also focused on generating green jobs and fostering innovation in the realm of plastics. By harnessing the potential of waste plastics, we have explored groundbreaking ideas and transformed them into useful products that contribute to a circular economy. 🌱💡 None of this would have been possible without the unwavering dedication and support from our incredible team, partners, and, most importantly, the communities we serve. Together, we have proven that collective action can drive meaningful change and pave the way for a more sustainable future. 👥💪 We are immensely grateful to the government for recognizing our efforts and bestowing this esteemed award upon us. It serves as a testament to the tireless work we have put into making a positive difference in our environment. This award not only celebrates our achievements but also reinforces our commitment to continue pushing boundaries and finding innovative solutions to tackle the plastic waste crisis. We remain resolute in our mission to create a world where waste is transformed into valuable resources, where sustainability is the norm, and where future generations thrive. 🌍✨ Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone and let's keep striving for a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable world together! 🎊🌿 #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalImpact #CommunityDriven #Innovation #GreenJobs #PlasticWaste #EcoBrixs #cfye

Lake Victoria, the world's largest fresh water lake at the heart of Africa is chocking on more than 500 tonnes of waste #plastic per day. Namirembe fishing village collects more than 2.5 tonnes of plastic per week. This is because the currents sweeps plastics from neighboring countries of Tanzania, flow through Kagera River into the large waterbody. The custom solution was to collect stack it in the foundation and build houses on top. The other is ofcourse open air burning which has a great deal of side effects on the body and environment. According to AirQo Africa discovered in Uganda, more than 22,000 people die because of air pollution. #EcoBrixs, a plastic recycling plant came to change the narrative by buying waste plastic and recycling it. This reduced the amount of waste plastics on the lakeshore but also created income opportunity to the Resource Recover Agents. #opportunity #people #change #recycling #environment #africa #water #water

Due to increased demand for wood to make wooden boats for fishermen in Uganda. There was a high demand for the tree species from the Congo forest which leads to increased deforestation. EcoBrixs made a boat 100% from recycled waste plastic from L. Victoria shores. The boat is a sign of how the lake can be easily cleaned and the product useful to the society

It's a good solution to some extent, but l tend to prefer we refuse using plastics rather than living with the intention to recycle. The fact is that the boat remains a product of plastics and when it's no longer in use ,the components of plastics will have the same effects on our planet.

I hope you will pull it out of the water when not in use because it will still give off micro plastics and toxic resin since it is made from fossil fuel.

Nice one!. Lake Victoria is a fresh water lake but extremely polluted, any action to salvage it is much appreciated.

Plastic is a significant contributor to the climate crisis. If plastic’s life cycle were a country, it would be the fifth largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world. Even more concerning, left unchecked plastic production is expected to double within the next 20 years. Petrochemicals, the category of fossil fuels that are made into plastic, now account for 14% of oil use. and are expected to drive half of oil demand growth between now and 2050. With the electric vehicle market rapidly expanding and 2020 breaking records for renewable energy, the fossil industry is increas- ingly relying on plastics as its lifeline. Uganda is is not spared and everyday at least 600 tonnes of waste plastics is disposed off to the enbironment. Most of it ends up in Lake Victoria and driven through R. Nile to Mediterranean sea and later our oceans which affects the fishing industry and economic activities. EcoBrixs a local organisation has championed a lake cleanup where it has collected closed to 500 tonnes plastics equivalent to 20,000,000 bottles collected and later reycled to new products www.ecobrixs.org

Lake Victoria is the source of R. Nile, a report by Nile Basin Initiative indicated that its also the source of plastic pollution to the river and thousands of tonnes of microplastics are delivered to Mediterranean Sea through the Nile. Efforts should be done to allow fishermen pick plastics from the lake. www.ecobrixs.org has led a massive active to collect the plastics from the waters

@kayemba_Daniel, if you may consider giving @ecobrixs a love review, better! In that way @wedonthavetime, will engage them if the review reaches #100agrees, which to wdht family that is a great VOICES!

I once did a plastic review down here and trust to believe that the marine is deeply affected by plastic pollution I better call it "plastic pandemic "..it hurts to see species dying in the lakes, rivers and oceans reasons being plastic.I would like everything to start by us and a plastic free is archivable.

Recycled products from waste plastic like pavers would be a solution of the piling amoumts of waste plastics and can also be a store for large amounts of carbon
