17th of December 2021 was a turning point for me and all members of Eco-Green Africa. As we emerged the winner of the OHCSF Innovation Challenge, it opened up a new focus for us to proffer innovative solutions to mitigate environmental issues. Of course, the funding has gone a long way in enabling us to launch lots of impactful programmes and activities. We remain grateful to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation - Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan and the management of the OHCSF for creating the platform for Civil Servants to showcase various innovative projects. Above all, I am forever grateful to God for His wonderful works in my life... As a Government Regulator with the Federal Ministry of Environment, I've had opportunities to inspect Oil and Gas Companies in Nigeria. Last week I visited Nigeria LNG Limited, i and my team are impressed at the high level of compliance with environmental affairs and the Finima Nature Park is worth emulating...I actually felt at peace with nature 😊. Kudos Click the link to watch videos of the massive Whale Skeleton and the serene conserved nature park https://www.linkedin.com/posts/dorathy-ukemezia-76a4801b4_so-i-actually-touched-a-whale-bonethis-activity-7001609216071229441-AAdD?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop https://www.linkedin.com/posts/dorathy-ukemezia-76a4801b4_at-finima-nature-park-kudos-to-nigeria-activity-7001596010800001024-5h7J?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

Waste Segregation is an important aspect of Waste Management that is hardly practiced in Nigeria. So we started the Sustainable School Recycling Project, to sensitize the students and teachers on how to segregate their waste, its values, and benefits... from our survey the 3 major wastes generated in schools are Plastics, Paper/Cardboard, and Food Waste. The project was launched on Global Recycling Day - March 18th, 2021 and over two tonnes of Plastic Waste and other Recyclable Waste have been evacuated from the schools. These wastes are normally dumped in dumped sites and affect both the environment and human health negatively... We observed a positive behavioral change in the students cos most of them now segregate their waste at home. We still need to reach out to more schools... In celebration of the Independence of our Country-Nigeria, I and members of Eco-Green Africa teamed up with our partners to clean up the Crush Rock Lake Mpampe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKWDVnoNCZs It was also a World Clean Up Activity by Eco-Green Africa Crushed Rock is an abandoned quarry in Mpape, Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The quarry was opened in 1977, just a year after the decision to relocate Nigeria's capital to Abuja from Lagos. During the 1980s the quarry provided much of the stone for the construction of the new city. The quarry was closed in 2010 ...it got flooded, forming a Quarry Lake. It became a tourist location with no proper planning for the management of activities in and around the Quarry Lake. This has exposed the lake to indiscriminate dumping of refuse... 4FMX+H9V, Garui Road, Maitama 901101, Abuja
