Managing water is one of the biggest tasks we must take on in this era of climate extremes. It seems we are either inundated with water or we are in droughts. Implementing water-preserving land depressions to keep water on the land to soak in rather than run off and collecting and channeling water through our landscapes so it has a chance to soak in rather than run off are things farmers and property owners could do.

Is Twitter doing the right thing about treating RealDonaldTrump with the same conditions and rules as other Twitter users?
•
203 w
Absolutely! Social media platforms were meant to share information, not lies and propaganda.
•
•
203 w
Naturally everyone should be treated the same, but the most important thing about Twitter's action is, I believe, that they took a stand against the spread of misleading information and groundless speculation - that is an extremely big and important step for a social media company to take!

Interesting insights about how well covered health actually is in the sustainable development goals. I knew there are connections between health and sustainability, but I didn't knew they were so strong. It's clear that resilience needs to play a much more important role in society in the coming years. Not just on the systemic level, but also on the individual and community levels too.

Yes! I am also hoping for the similar view regarding parts of the food industry; Heavily investing in dairy farms/products and/or meat is not the way for us to go when ”we dont have time”. Plant based alternatives or cultured meats should attract larger portion of funds. Our farms need support to transform.

The corona pandemic shows that it is possible to act together. But also, UN environment chief, Inger Andersen says nature is sending us a message. – Never before have so many opportunities existed for pathogens to pass from wild and domestic animals to people, says Inger Anderson to The Guardian. We can't go back to business as usual. Individuals, big and small corporations and world leaders, the corona pandemic needs to be a wake-up call for all of us. – There are too many pressures at the same time on our natural systems and something has to give. We are intimately interconnected with nature, whether we like it or not. If we don’t take care of nature, we can’t take care of ourselves. And as we hurtle towards a population of 10 billion people on this planet, we need to go into this future armed with nature as our strongest ally, says Inger Andersen. If we as a civilization want to prevent future pandemic crises we need to show nature more respect and listen to the message that our planet sends out. Give a climate heart to Inger Andersen for speaking out!

After the digital event “flying within academia” today, where students where once again asked to push for change and action, I thought that we could make the ask for action events digital? They are one example of pushing for action and perhaps they could be done digital now, since the larger events during which ask for action usually takes place, are all cancelled.

Yes. When we ask universities to take action they say students should push them more to do it. If they want us to push they need to invite us to all their meetings. Now they are developing their strategies- in those processes, they should invite us to contribute. Great idea to ask them to have digital meetings with us.

Gucci’s CEO, Marco Bizzarri, today launches a program called the CEO Carbon Neutral Challenge, in which he invites other executives to officially join the fight against climate change. In an open letter, Bizzarri asks other leaders to follow Gucci’s lead in reducing and offsetting its greenhouse gas emissions. He makes the case that companies can’t just focus on long-term strategies that will reduce their carbon emissions and move toward greener business practices: They should also immediately offset their emissions, which refers to investing in a project or technology that removes carbon from the atmosphere. This might involve, for instance, donating to reforestation projects.Gucci, the $8.8 billion fashion giant is offsetting the carbon footprint of its entire supply chain. CEO Marco Bizzarri is challenging other business leaders to join him. As the CEO of an $8.8 billion company in the fashion industry—a sector that generates more greenhouse gas emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping trips combined—Bizzarri’s message is likely to resonate with the leaders of other fashion houses. But he explains that he’s making this appeal to CEOs across different industries. For instance, later today, he will speak at the Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference, which tends to attract business leaders from the technology sector. “We don’t have the luxury of doing nothing,” “We need to act now, and we will be able to amplify our impact if we all work together.” https://www.fastcompany.com/90432341/gucci-took-action-on-climate-change-now-its-daring-other-companies-to-do-the-same
