Bill McGuire is an academic, activist, broadcaster, blogger and writer of popular science and speculative fiction.
He was a contributor to the 2012 IPCC SREX report on climate change and extreme events, and has advised the UK government on geophysical hazards. His non-fiction books include A Guide to the End of the World: Everything you Never Wanted to Know and Surviving Armageddon: Solutions for a Threatened Planet. His current books are Waking the Giant: How a Changing Climate Triggers Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Volcanoes – ranked 5th in a Guardian list of the best ever eco books – and Global Catastrophes: a Very Short Introduction. His short stories have been published online and in anthologies. Bill is a Patron of Scientists for Global Responsibility, a Co-director of the New Weather Institute, Special Scientific Advisor to WordForest.Org and on the Advisory Board of Scientists Warning.
