In Mozambique, Mozambikes (great name) is on a mission to empower people thanks to the humble bicycle. The organisation helps people who live below the poverty line to access their bikes through donations, branded bicycles and microloans. More than being a sustainable transport alternative, in Mozambique a bike can make a real impact on people's lives. In the country, the average person lives 30km from the nearest health centre, and also must walk for hours to reach schools and clean water. Almost 80% of people work in the informal sector, such as farmers or people who buy and sell goods and for them, their daily income and productivity are determined by how much they can carry, how far and how fast. Bikes can provide easier access to the goods, services and education that can help lift them out of poverty. Bikes are more affordable than public transport and bicycles provide a way to save around 20% of their daily incomes. On top of that, every Mozambike Bicycle produced means a job for three technicians and one painter. Mozambikes gives them the power to positively change their own lives and contribute to the development of Mozambique. Mozambikes also regularly trains technicians in rural communities to build new skills and help bring better bicycle care to rural areas. So far we have trained over 50 community technicians, a majority of which are women. https://www.mozambikes.com/

VOCs are released from a wide range of household materials and products including mattresses, cleaning products, dry cleaning, carpeting, and cosmetics. 🏠 In a study of 47 homes in the UK, 45% of homes were found to have VOCs levels that exceed guidelines. Even if you can't see the pollutants it doesn't mean that your air is clean. This is why you need to take care of your indoor air quality.

Anonymous Lottery Winner uses money to start Environmental Foundation “My dream has never been to acquire boats, castles or other sports cars, it is to be useful and to give meaning to this money, with maximum positive impact” the winner said in a statement. In 2020 a french man won €200m, choosing to use most of it to set up an environmental foundation named the Anyama Endowment Fund. The man, who wishes to stay anonymous, shows there are people ready to prioritize the environment. I wish more people with money would use them this wisely. He truly deserves climate love. Do you know what is the biggest difference between a traditional air purifier with a HEPA filter and a Vitesy air purifier with a photocatalytic filter? In 5 years with a HEPA air purifier you can spend on average over 50€ in filters. With Natede you get a filter you don't have to change because it's treated with a revolutionary nanomaterial that breaks down pollutants at the molecular level making them harmless. 💚 In this way you have no extra expenses over the years and you do not create waste for the environment. www.vitesy.com

🌏 INVEST IN OUR PLANET It's time to act now and immediately. The #EarthDay 2022 theme is Invest In Our Planet. How? Plant a tree, plant a pollinator garden, join a cleanup. This weekend try something different: take your bike and pick up the trash you find on your road. It's a small gesture that everyone should do.

Small but significant changes can improve the quality of the air in your home. You may think of dust as a nuisance or cleaning issue, but it’s a pollutant. It can be especially harmful to children because they spend more time on or near the floor. With #NatedeSmart you can keep your home a safe and purified environment ➡️ vitesy.com/natede-smart

The #WorldHealthOrganization has released new and rigid air pollution guidelines. As the effects on health are extremely dangerous. "About 80% of deaths related to fine particulate matter could be avoided if pollution levels were cut to be in line with the new guidance" WHO said. But, unfortunately, the experts say none of the world’s 100 biggest cities would meet the updated rules. We really hope to see an important and drastic change to see a brighter future.

1. Carpool, use public transportation or a bike. 2. Reduce or eliminate fireplace and wood stove use. 3. While gardening, compost leaves and yard waste. 4. Use environmentally safe paints and cleaning products 🌎
•

5. Buy durable products that you expect to use a long time. I have also saved a lot of money this way by buying clothes less often. 6. Find new uses for things you don't need anymore, get creative, sell or give it to someone who will use it. Reuse is always better than recycling and there is often still no guarantee that recyclables are actually recycled. 7. Eat less animal-based products (or switch to cell-based meat if/when available). You don't have to go vegan to already make an impact on air pollution, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, world hunger, the risk at epidemics, food poisoning, the antibiotic resistance problem, animal welfare and possibly your own health. 8. Set the central heating of your home a degree lower (don't do this with or when caring for someone with cancer or other conditions making it hard to stay warm by yourself).

Did you know the impact that your daily action and choice have on the planet? 🌎 Disposable plastic has a huge impact on our earth. Think of the number of items that are bought and thrown away immediately after a SINGLE use. This is why is important to switch to reusable bags, water bottles, and many other objects. It's crazy, isn't it? But do you know what percentage of single-use plastic is produced? Today, single-use plastics make up x% of all those produced each year. Try to guess in the comments!

Climate change and air pollution are closely related because air pollution contributes to climate change. Let's find out how: 🌡 Climate change creates higher temperatures 🌫 In turn, higher temperatures intensify some types of air pollution. For example, climate change increases smog because it forms in presence of high heat and increased levels of ultraviolet radiation. This is why we need to start now to take care of the air we breathe! What do you think?

😷 Indoor pollution is a problem that should not be underestimated. While it is not something we can physically see, it is there and affects our everyday life. Many problems related to our health can have one thing in common: indoor air pollution. In fact, breathing unhealthy air can affect our health. Let's see how on our new blog post ➡️ vitesy.com/blog/air-pollution/effects-indoor-air-pollution-health?utm_source=WeDontHaveTime

DO YOU VENTILATE YOUR HOME? 🏡 The sources of indoor air pollution can be many: daily actions, the furniture inside the space, the detergents, and much more. But did you know that inadequate ventilation leads to more than half of the problems associated with poor air quality? Open a window immediately and let in clean air!
