We are talking about huge parts of the precious Brazilian rainforest, that are being illegaly sold on the Facebook owned Marketplace, including national forests and lands of indigenous people. It just left me speechless. Lets raise our voices and send Facebook a big climate warning! Read more to the story here: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-56168844

Our commerce policies require buyers and sellers to comply with laws and regulations when buying and selling on Marketplace. We stand ready to work with local authorities on any of the issues raised in the BBC’s reporting. - Facebook spokesperson

Who will save the amazon forest??? is there anybody in the world who has the power to protect Amazon.
•

This has got to be the most disgusting representation of humanity that I have seen outside of a war zone. How can people do this? If the Amazon is the lungs of the earth then these despicable people (and I do not leave Bolsonaro out of this by any means!) are simply selling off their own organs for profit without one shred of concern or conscience for what they leave behind. Brazil is in desperate need of a strong, determined leader who can step in and preserve this irreplaceable resource that does so much to save us all from climate change. This has ruined my day!!

To control big business we have to vote with our feet, if their actions are wrong then surely its time to leave.

John Kerry, the US climate official, has said he is closely examining the UK government’s approval of a new coalmine, over concerns that it will raise greenhouse gas emissions and send the wrong signal to developing countries. Kerry, Joe Biden’s special envoy for climate, said he was taking a close interest in the mine, the first to get the go-ahead in the UK for 30 years, and that he would speak out publicly against the approval if it did not meet strict criteria https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/dec/10/john-kerry-examining-likely-impact-of-new-uk-coalmine

Mercedes-Benz will be installing 2,500 high-powered chargers in the United States by 2027. To make this happen, Mercedes-Benz is working with MN8 Energy and the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging company ChargePoint. MN8 Energy and ChargePoint will also make use of available federal subsidies to help with the scaling and building of EV chargers. These high-powered chargers can be reserved in advance for Mercedes-Benz owners, but other electric vehicles can also utilize these charging stations. What a great way to democratize EV access! “This is a strategic decision to put our money where our mouth is,” said Ola Källenius, the chief executive of Mercedes-Benz. I like the practice-what-you-preach attitude by Mercedes-Benz. Plus, the decision to build high-powered charging stations will have a twofold effect on Americans - (1) it alleviates the fear of car buyers about there not being enough chargers on the US roadways, and (2) these chargers will pump 350 kilowatts per hour which is faster than most of the EV chargers found in the US. This EV investment made by Mercedes-Benz is a climate commitment that I like to hear about! I applaud Mercedes-Benz 👏, and I hope to see other car manufacturers follow in Mercedes-Benz's climate footsteps. Click here to read the NYT article

Electric vehicles will go a long way to cut down on carbon emissions emitted by fuel-driven vehicles.

I love how they are thinking of other brands that can also use the charging station

Nearly all houses in Tokyo will have to install solar panels after April 2025. The regulation - which was recently passed by the Japanese capital’s local assembly - requires 50 major construction firms to equip homes of up to 2,000 square metres with renewable energy power sources. The rule will help the city transition to green energy, city counsellors declared. ”In addition to the existing global climate crisis, we face an energy crisis with a prolonged Russia-Ukraine war”, said Risako Narikiyo, a member of the local assembly. ”There is no time to waste.” Tokyo hopes to bring down its emissions footprint significantly in the coming decades. The city’s Metropolitan Government aims to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared with 2000 levels, and to be emission-free by 2050.
