The world’s largest and most modern facility for plastic recycling. Fantastic, so please give them a Climate Heart. The Swedish Plastic Recycling company are investing heavily in building the world’s largest and most modern facility for plastic recycling, Site Zero. The facility will be able to recycle all plastic packaging from Swedish households and make plastics circular – completely without any CO2 emissions. More information: https://www.svenskplastatervinning.se/en/site-zero/ @WDTH: Please add them to the account list as they are not in it.

We have several companies that offers confetti bombs with confetti made of plastic. Kjell and Company is one of them, Partykungen.se and Lindersfyrverkeri.se are others, just to mention three of them. Even if there are confetti bombs with confetti made of rice or papper, we could see a lot of the ones with plastic been fired outdoors at weedings, student, New Year, party and other occasions. Just do one thing, STOP SELLING THE CONFETTI BOMBS MADE WITH PLASTIC!!!

The best way is to have the shops stop selling them. I don’t buy this product, others will. Individual action is essential but not enough. This platform is all about collective action. Let’s make the shops stop selling this by working together. Agree to this post and share it!

Findus states that they have sustainability in focus but still sends cod, saithe, Alaska pollock and hoki to the manufacturer in China for file production, writtes the newspapper Expressen. One of the reasons for the long haul is the lower wage situation in China. "By placing part of our file production in China, we can continue to offer good quality products at competitive prices," says Maria Svantemark, Nordic sustainability manager at Findus. I believe that it will be more sustainable to do the filleas in Sweden and be able to be competitive in price if they imstead do it with automation. Please read more in the article: https://www.expressen.se/nyheter/klimat/findus-torsk-skeppas-till-kina-for-att-fileas-/

During the first 6 months of 2021 we started moving all of our cod production from China to Europe, and the move will be complete by the end of the year. We have found a partner in Europe, closer to where the cod is fished, who can handle the volumes we need and meet the demands we have regarding quality, taste, price and sustainability.

Six of Sweden's 32 largest e-retailers send their returns abroad for repackaging. It shows a review from Breakit. As an example, Nelly and Sportamore send their returns to Estonia back and forth, trips of 1470 and 1150 kilometers respectively. For "business reasons", Ellos does not want to state where the company sends its returns. But with the help of a GPS transmitter, Breakit was able to trace a returned parcel via the port of Ystad to the Polish countryside - where it was repackaged and then sent back to Ello's warehouse in Borås. In total, the package traveled 2360 km. - It doesn't feel good from a sustainability perspective, says PostNord's e-commerce expert Arne Andersson to Breakit. This is soo crazy. It should be a large fee for all carbon emissions from freight. That would fix the problem.

Unfortunately many have developed a reflex when it comes to buying behavior which is close to 100% online and easygoing “order-return”. Which calculations and guidelines are there? Should there be?

By the start of 2020, it will not be possible anymore to leave bags with unsorted garbage to the NSR recycling stations in the south of Sweden. Earlier those bags have been burned up, but from 2020 everything has to be sorted according to the type of waste it is. More for recycling for a sustainable future!

The last years there have been a huge increase of plastic packaging in the juice disc at all of the Ica grocery stores in Sweden. As plastic packaging have approx. 60-70% more greenhouse gas emissions compared to papper production, it would be preferable if the large Ica group in Sweden stop selling juice in plastic bottles. My personal opinion is that the suppliers have made the choice of plastic, only to have a more ”selling” position in the juice bar. Facts: IVL The Swedish Environmental Institute has completed a study that compares the environmental performance between different packaging solutions. In the study, a comparative life cycle analysis is made between plastics on the one hand and papers from BillerudKorsnäs on the other. The results show that paper has significantly better environmental properties including 50-70% lower greenhouse gas emissions.

I would add to this the unnecessary use of cling wrap plastic. For instance on ginger and other vegetables.
•

Good observation Stefan! This is all in the hands of the consumers, stop buying juice in plastic bottles and buy the ones that are in paper based packaging instead. The plastic is probably easier to sell because the bottles are see through.

When looking at the statstics, a purchase of new electronic products with a weight of 1kg is equal to an emission of carbon dioxide of a 300km drive in a car. New clothes are equal to 200km. Ask yourself some questions, before you are buying something new: - Do I really need to buy a new phone, car, pair of jeans, etc.? - Could I buy it as vintage or second hand? - Could I find my new product produced with a Fair Trade / Climate Friendly production behind? This is my promise of a changed behavior, for a more climate friendly living!
•

This is really good! I wish that you go easy on yourself since you've already started this and maybe could use the wiggle room. I'm thinking this is really cool! I mean vintage stuff is the best in audio, why not everywhere else!? Take care.

I gladly take this pledge and urge others to agree. The current upgrade race it tech for example is not sustainable in any way.
•

I used my previous phone for 5.5 years - but then I had to upgrade because of outdated software and hardware. Future devices should be modular. It's not sustainable to changer the whole phone if 90% of the hardware still works well.

Digitalization (Industry 4.0) opens the door to a sustainable production! With the aim to build up a flexible and customer order driven production, instead of the mass production of 3.0 we have today, we will have great opportunities to do it in a sustainable way. Here's a couple of examples: - Traceability gives you the history of the material used (eco-friendly) - Energy management gives you tools for saving energy - Green energy and integrated building management for flexible and reconfigurable production - Adaptive manufacturing gives small batches and less waste - Digital Twins optimizes the real production also in a sustainable way - In the Cyber Physical System will the network of devices (IoT) be capable of detecting or predicting system failures in real time. The waste will be reduced. - Smart maintenance will reduce use of spare parts To all universities and companies that have started the journey against a sustainable production, driven by the Industry 4.0 concept, keep up the good work!

Emission rights close to important level - where they make a difference The price of emission rights is approaching the important psychological limit of EUR 30 per tonne of carbon dioxide, Bloomberg reports. Experts have pointed out 30 euros as the minimum price required for it to be economically rational for industries to phase out the most dirty fuels. Please read more at Omni Economi: https://omniekonomi.se/a/RRE69J To make difference, continue to buy emission rights and make sure they will be destroyed.
