M-taka is a tech-integrated waste management social enterprise that seeks to educate the community on better and alternative waste management practices, to connect different actors in the waste value chain and improve the livelihoods of waste actors. M-taka aims to increase plastic recycling culture, empower women and girls in waste, and induce behavior change. M-taka aggregates plastic waste recyclables through verified agents, crushes the plastics for sale to end-of-chain recyclers, and provides incentives for positive behavior change among the community to encourage proper waste management. M-taka utilizes technology and social incentives to trigger behavior change among the community, create and sustain long-term commitment to proper waste management.
