UN votes to ask world court to rule on national climate obligations.

The UN General Assembly approved a motion asking the International Court of Justice to clarify international law and describe states' obligations to fight climate change. This judicial advice may encourage nations to adopt more stringent policies. Students studying law on Pacific islands came up with the motion, which was approved by a large margin.
