The county government of Kiambu has urged stakeholders to support the tree-planting initiative launched by President William Ruto. Water and Environment CEC David Kuria said most urban areas rely on water from rivers and boreholes. He said trees from the water sources were cut down many years ago without being replaced, leaving the wetlands at risk. However, he said efforts to conserve them has seen forests being replanted with indigenous trees. Kuria said so many residents in urban areas don't know the sources of the water they drink and urged the government to continue sensitising them on the importance of conservation. “So many people living in Nairobi and other urban areas don't know the sources of the water they drink.
