Elon Musk and Ireland farmers oppose Irish Government proposal to slaughter cows for climate change

This really needs to stop. Killing some cows doesn’t matter for climate change," Musk tweeted Saturday, responding to author Ashley St. Clair.Β  St. Clair had tweeted an editorial published by Cowboy State Daily titled, "Ireland Looking To Kill 200,000 Cows To Fight Climate Change; Are US Herds Next?"Β  The Telegraph, the national British newspaper, recently reported thatΒ the Irish governmentΒ is considering a plan to cull 200,000 cattle amid pressure from Brussels.Β https://www.foxnews.com/world/elon-musk-farmers-torch-ireland-government-proposal-slaughter-200k-cows-meet-eu-climate-change-goals

I have to say that I find the commentary on this story very bizarre. What do people think happens to cows in the dairy industry? And yes, dairy and meat farming is incredibly carbon, land, and water intensive, never mind the cruelty involved. So we do need to reduce the amount of cows if we're to transition to sustainability. Calling it a 'cull' in an industry that routinely kills animals is just plain odd.

Climate awareness and measures to combat climate change in Ireland should be made mandatory.

Has Irish government put a stop to all agents of climate change before embarking on animal population regulation?

What is the reasoning behind this idea? has the Irish government addressed all agents of climate change before turning onto this idea?

Killing cows sounds absurd, this is a bad mitigation choice.

I don't see the point in killing the cows, How would dead cows help? How about balancing the eco-system?

I am yet to understand why we have to kill the cows while fossil fuels extractors continue unabated.
