TOFU WASTE TURNED INTO COOKING GAS In Indonesia people makes a lot if tofu. But the waste water from the production risks polluting rivers if not properly taken care of. Dr Neni Sintawardani designed and built a local bio gas plant for the local community to stop the waste from reaching rivers & supply people with biogas for cooking. Her technology is not patented, encouraging others to use it for free to make other small biogas plants! Sintawardani was awarded the 2021 Underwriters Laboratories-ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women for her use of biogas from processed wastewater to increase clean water availability and improve community sanitation systems.
