Call2Recycle Canada enters hospitality sector.

Battery collection and recycling program Call2Recycle Canada has announced a collaboration to implement battery recycling across the BWH Hotels network. The Toronto-based organization says this partnership marks the first time a major company in the Canadian hospitality sector has integrated battery recycling on a large scale as part of its sustainability strategy. According to Call2Recycle, to date, 47 BWH hotels in eight Canadian provinces and territories have joined its battery recycling program, with more set to join in 2024. The program will provide BWH with a free and convenient solution to dispose of used batteries from their operations responsibly. The organization says battery-powered devices are omnipresent in the operations of the hospitality industry, including being used in sensors, smoke detectors, door locks and room devices such as clocks or TV remotes. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2023/12/12/2794937/0/en/BWH-Hotels-and-Call2Recycle-Bring-Battery-Recycling-Practices-to-the-Canadian-Hospitality-Sector.html

Call2Recycle Canada's collaboration with BWH Hotels to implement battery recycling in the hospitality sector is a noteworthy step in sustainability. This marks the first large-scale integration of battery recycling in the Canadian hospitality sector, with 47 BWH hotels already participating. The program addresses the ubiquitous use of battery-powered devices in hospitality operations, offering a responsible disposal solution. Such initiatives contribute to environmental consciousness and align with broader efforts to enhance sustainability in various industries.

I imagine when this is done on a large scale, the numbers of batteries recycled would be astronomical
