Japan to start releasing wastewater from Fukushima from Thursday

Japan has said it will begin discharging more than 1 million metrics tonnes of treated radioactive water from ruined Fukushima nuclear power plant into pacific ocean on 24th August, despite opposition from neighboring countries including China and local fishing communities who fear threat to their livelihood.

      There should be 1. third party monitoring and safety audit, 2. Dissemination of testing results to people of neighboring countries and 3. long-term monitoring and tracking of dispersion and accumulation of radioactive isotopes in the ocean and in marine aquatic life.

                It is often not an acceptable practice to discharge such into the bodies of water.

                  They should reconsider this and at least reuse the treated wastewater rather than discharging into water body for several reasons.
