Improving crop yield

We have loads of agricultural waste that is not well utilized and could be used in a beneficial way.Nowadays we have fertilisers that are expensive and harmful to the soil, but with biochar it will be different and help in water retention. This creates job opportunities and enhances food security while still addressing climate change, it's a win win.Their aim of scaling up across Africa will impact millions of acres of agricultural farmland. Small scale farmers will benefit by increased crop yields and in the process reducing Carbon dioxide.

I wonder where they will obtain Biochar from. I hope they are not going to chop down trees for Biochar.
