The College of Environment and Natural Resources at the Martyr Muhammad Al-Halbous Amphitheater within the College of Science, University of Misrata, organized a scientific symposium under the supervision of the Renewable Energies and Environment Organization, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Sawy, with the participation of the Misrata Free Zone, the President of Al-Jafra University, Prof. Dr. Youssef Abu Bakr, and the Vice President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Habib.

Under the slogan: “The carbon footprint and its role in reducing climate change,” the symposium activities were opened with a speech by the Dean of the College of Environment, “Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Al-Haddad,” who welcomed the audience, and then delivered a speech by the University Presidency, Mr. Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, “Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharkasi.”

The symposium witnessed the Egyptian international expert in sustainability and climate risk assessment, “Ambassador Dr. Mostafa El-Sherbiny,” presenting a lecture related to the carbon footprint, green energy projects, and reducing carbon emissions. Prof. Dr. Mostafa Al-A’eb also presented a lecture on switching to renewable energy in #Libya: Is it an option or a necessity? This was followed by opening the floor for discussion to the attendees, then honoring the participants in the symposium and a visit to the heritage tent.

Ambassador Mostafa El-Sherbiny, Professor Ahmed El-Sawy, event coordinator, and Professor Mustafa Al-Ghaib were honored on the sidelines of the symposium by giving them the Misrata University shield, and a cooperation protocol was signed between three universities “Misrata, Sirte, and Al-Jufra” from Libya and the Volunteer Team Foundation for Humanitarian Work, where global initiatives will be launched at the United Nations.
