Climate warning

The Sun advertises UK heatwaves as fun, saying Brits should enjoy it while it lasts.

📢 " HOT HOT HOT Brits bask in hottest day since records began as Met says we’ve hit 40.3C with 1000s packing beaches to enjoy heatwave. " As I visit the website of The Sun, it is shocking to read this title. This article has been published on July 19th, that is to say right when we are all facing major consequences of the heatwaves. As you scroll down the article, you can see several pictures of happy brits in their swimsuits and on the beach. You can even read: " Brits on pool floats enjoyed the hot weather in Brighton. " " Sunseeker Marisa Santos enjoyed the warm weather on Bournemouth Beach." " One lucky resident in Blackpool took a dip in the pool in her garden. " Lucky, really...? You want to hear the most outrageous one ? Here it is : " And they should enjoy it while they can as the heatwave ends tomorrow. " 🤡 Please comment, agree and share it across social medias. This is an unacceptable, insulting behaviour that need to stop right now. Media has a role to play and this is a huge mistake that The Sun has done here, not only is it disinformation but this is purely lying to the audience, misleading people and gaslighting all the suffering that is happening right now in the entire world. This is absolutely insane - I’ve seen the narrative go around in the US as well that “a little more heat just means a little more summer” - the least the media could do it be informative.

Media have such a big responsibility, and yet, they use their influence in the wrong way... climate change and heatwave mean death of many people, starvation because of food insecurity and loss, wars over scarce resources like water, it doesn't mean nice summer holidays

Yes 😞 and it's not like they are blind. Nobody has ever claimed heatwave were "enjoyable". In my opinion this communication isn't due to a lack of knowledge but a clear intention as being skeptical about climate change.

It's bad to see such a platform not telling the truth to it's people and instead taking advantage of a calamity for their own benefits. This is foolishness of the highest level...

Hypocrisy and ignorance of highest order! They should portray effects the climate change has brought to their country and this is beginning, I assume they will regret when effects keep growing!

@patrick_kiash exactly, and denial. How far does it have to go until they react?
