New Amnesty briefing analyzes landmark climate judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
After six people presented a case in a court of law, complaining of health conditions excarbated during heat waves, the court found that the Switzerland inadequate policies to reduce green house gas emissions, violated their right to private and family life which encompasses a right to effective protection from serious adverse effects on climate change on people's lives, health, well being and quality of life.According to the ruling the Switzerland failed to consider the best available science to limit global heating to 1.5°c.above industrial levels a requirement by international law,and did not effectively devise and enact mitigation measures that would protect claimants from harm. The climate ruling shows that protecting human rights and ensuring that people live well and healthy even after a crisis and more so help to deal reduce crisis.

I strongly agree governments to align their climate policies with human rights obligations. By recognizing the link between environmental sustainability and individual well-being, it sets a precedent for accountability in addressing climate change impacts on health and quality of life.
