Climate warning

Kenya has proposed to allow miners to explore National Parks and protected areas.

Kenya's government has proposed a plan to allow miners to operate within national parks and protected areas across the country. This announcement was made during a meeting on Monday, March 25, featuring Cabinet Secretaries Alfred Mutua (Tourism) and Salim Mvurya (Mining). The move was welcomed by Taita Taveta's Governor Andrew Mwadime, whose county is known for its rich mineral resources. Governor Mwadime announced plans to grant artisanal miners access to national parks and protected areas for mineral exploration and exploitation during a meeting with the Cabinet Secretaries.
This move has been controversial, with concerns about environmental impact and wildlife safety. While some argue that mining can help restore barren areas and benefit local communities, others worry about the potential harm to the parks' biodiversity and integrity.
It's important to consider the potential consequences of allowing mining in national parks, as it could lead to environmental degradation and threaten the delicate balance of these protected areas. Balancing economic development with conservation efforts is crucial to ensure the long-term sustainability of these natural habitats.

Of late, the Kenyan government seems to be only thinking of one thing, how to make money to continue it's absurd spending spree. Who would sensible allow this to happen? We have to stop this by all means possible even if it means going to the streets and or to these parks to stop such atrocities from occuring

@gorffly_mokua The sheer ignorance by the political class of the needs of the animals, parks and the population just so they can make an extra buck has to be studied by professionals. This move would effectively endanger the thriving ecosystems in these parks which to a large extent are without human interactions
