We pride ourselves on being able to take complicated environmental issues and fitting the most vital information into a short social media caption. But no matter how hard we try, there will always be problems that simply have too many working parts and need a deeper dive. That's why, starting with today's post, we will now be writing periodical long-format posts! Our social media posts will include the most vital information, but the extended version (if you will) will be posted on our blog (https://blog.pixelplanettoday.com). . So what's the big issue we're covering this week? Our home city of Omaha, Nebraska is set to move into the 21st century by incorporating a streetcar in its urban core (Downtown and surrounding areas). It's something we're incredibly excited about, but there are some residents that are not. While there are plenty of economic benefits, we're (obviously) most interested in the environmental ones. Being an all-electric and free-to-the-public mode of transportation will make urban travel in the city much greener (and remove the need for the crazy amount of parking lots). It won't go into service until the end of 2026, but it's still a great step towards a greener Omaha. . . Read our in-depth blog post about the benefits of a streetcar in Omaha:

. Graphic shows a streetcar. The factoid reads: "Almost 50% of Omaha's urban core is reserved for parking." . Pixel Planet Today is created by @terrabyte_tech.
