Yesterday, the French Council of State ruled that the French government had six months to ensure the survival of dolphins in the Bay of Biscay and to close fishing areas during certain periods of time, in order to limit the number of deaths of dolphins. Since 2018, the number of deaths by accidental capture attributable to fishing activities exceeds, each year, the maximum limit to ensure "a favorable conservation status" of dolphins and porpoises in the Northeast Atlantic. Currently, these three species would even face a "serious danger of extinction", at least regionally.
Great to see that the Council of State is supporting biodiversity and our planet! And it is also great to see that action in justice by environmental organizations (here Sea Shepherd France, France Nature Environnement, and the association for the Defense of Aquatic Environments) can be a success!

@rosebellendiritu it is not a ruling from the government, but by an administrative court that is forcing the government to act (which they haven't done as of now)
